Anybody here made that jump? I have always been in sales for comiss only and am moving to a salaried job with a nice cube and a clock I have to punch. Anybody ever done this and had much trouble with the adjustment?

I am actually wanting to do that right now. Making $15,000 in one month and making nothing for the next two months sucks. It's happened to me two times in the last 6 months.

I'm just worried I won't have the $15,000 month again soon enough........

It's a job that you have to have a good amount in savings at all times. I can see why it's hard because you never have the same amount coming in every single month. Makes budgets a PITA.

i went from commission to hourly. the money at my commission job was awesome, but i hated the inconsistency and not knowing for sure what each month will bring. i make less money now, but i'm happier with a steady check that i have control over.

I went from 100% commission to salary. I made a little more with sales, but I am much happier with the consistency. My stress level at work has gone down and at home because I don't have my wife constantly worrying what is coming in.

The stress was compounded for me because I made some bad credit decisions in college and we were trying to get out of debt, but it is difficult to come up with a payment plan when the checks are inconsistent. Now, with me having been on salary for a year, we have a good savings plan and we are nearly out of debt completely.

eh, I don't- I am sick of living like I make 60k per year when I might only make 45k

yeah, I did it. pretty much the same as everyone else posted. I'm not making quite as much as I was on commission but I'm working less hours and the stress level is a lot less (and my new job is supposedly extremely stressful for most people)

The hardest part so far is getting up at 5:30 every day...but when i leave work i actually get to leave work at work and don't have to take it home with me. Its an awesome feeling if you are not used to it.

i moved from hourly to salary. Sucks you no longer get to have overtime but I no longer have to clock in or out in the morning and for lunch.

maybe I'm just in with the perfect company but I'm salary with no commission except on "special/slow moving" items but can get overtime which I have many times. I also have perks like free floor seats to Bobcats games or 50 yrd line seats to the Panthers game(don't get those often but I have them for this weekend ).

We have drawings for tickets all the time that only the people in the office can get. We have like 900 full-time people and 700 temps, but most of them work in manufacturing and distribution so we have good odds of getting the tickets.

I am going to win Canes tickets this week!

I do a lot of A/R work and team work on projects. I am thinking about trying to get some certifications without going back to get another degree. Is there anything for accounting to get that would be useful in A/R or even a way to get six sigma or anything like that which would be useful in moving up?

didn't get the canes tickets! I'm still not used to the feeling of not having to bring my work home and knowing that I am going to get paid since I am not working for comiss. What a great thing. Quality of life since getting a salary has been a complete turn-around
