So today my car was hit in a Hit & Run in the Reynolds Parkling Deck-- in the pay-lot section. I have no idea who did it-- and it is a big dent. Since apparently no one saw anything, we figured we would ask about cameras. The officer told us that the deck doesn't have any cameras on the floor-- except for the area where cars are coming in and out. We figured we would look at the videos to see who came in and out between the short time.

THIS IS WHAT IS SHOCKING:

Not only do they not have any cameras ANYWHERE where the students are parked, the ONLY ones they have -- DON'T WORK!

Apparently, they aren't real. They were put there to scare people. Well, this is weird-- but I would think that you put them where people can actually see them, not hidden above the pay booth.


In case you don't know-- The police department on campus said that there have been an incredible amount of break-in's in the parking lots. They have been trying to get money for cameras, but the school won't give them the money.

Now tell me this, would you rather have a million dollar new gym or protection if you get attacked? Why is the Chancellor getting a $53million pay increase and we're just getting our cars broken into?








P.S. -- My car was hit today in the Reynold's pay-parking section, on the side facing the field. It is a champagne-colored '94 camera and it was hit in between 10:20am and 1:30pm. If anyone has seen anything or knows anything, PLEASE let me know. I will offer a reward to anyone who has information that leads to a resolution to this.

Closed-Circuit TV Cameras were something that was mentioned yesterday in the "Chancellor's Liaison" meeting (the Chancellor, top administrators and a bunch of students meet every month to talk about stuff) -- Public Safety gave a presentation on a handful of issues, and "post-Virginia Tech" security was one of them.

The main problem in getting it done is that Public Safety gets funded directly from the State, meaning we need to lobby for more $$$ at the General Assembly in advance. The Chancellor's salary gets paid out of tuition, so the Board of Governors can pretty much raise it at whim after the budget is adopted

Yeah I've got a big ole dent in the side of my truck from when I parked in the desk, some asshat threw their door open and imploded my driver side door.

So now I thinking about starting to camera phone license plates. Some people can't park or drive and need to stay off the road.

well if you have the photo(however you want to take it), you can look up whos car was next to you and go see if their car has matching damage


oh and i just came from campus, and almost got hit 2 times
1) going around the roundabout you must look left before you pull out. yea im talking about you you dumb bitch in the xterra talking on your cell phone.
2) when pulling out of a parallel parking spot you must look behind you to make sure no one is in the lane you are about to pull into (asshole in the jetta). i hope you saw my finger
