that's not a cable, that's a converter

i'm assuming you're trying to go usb -> serial?

any wal-mart, office depot, staples, best buy, etc. would have one of those. usually with the PDA accessories.

I guess I can do with a converter too. I did have a cable like this which we had bought in Europe. I need it for a machine vision camera used in industrial environment. I need something really good, I don't know if bestbuy type will work for me. Thanks for your suggestion.

It's an adapter, not just a straight thru wired cable like you seem to think. Give a walmart/bestbuy one a shot.

a cable does not exist that goes directly from usb -> rs232 serial. this is impossible.

there are converters that do this, however.

I guess you are right, in the sample I have right now, it seems that the connector was actually custom soldered to the cable. Like the last three in the link below,

http://www.ids-imaging.com/frontend/catalog_detail.php?pID=501&form_KatTable=menue3&form_KatID=18&nav1=25&nav2=66&nav3=18

Thanks everyone for suggestions....

well, it depends

are you trying to do RS232C? or are you merely trying to carry USB over a different connector?

both are possible.

I am trying to replicate the cable I posted in the link above. For the exact same application indicated in that link. The camera has both 5 pin B and micro sub D ports, but the 5 pin B is damaged. It got damaged because of too much movement due to the fact that the camera is mounted on a robot.
