I just got my first ipod, and I can't figure out how to sort my music by artist rather than song titles and albums.

Anyone know?

it should be one of the options on your ipod, unless you got the new itouch, then I don't know.

I have no idea. Someone told me I had to do it in itunes and it'd sync to my ipod when I plugged it in.

well you need to figure out what the hell you're trying to do before you start asking for help.

iTunes is the software that you put on your computer that manages your music. inside itunes, you can sort or filter your music however you want - by artist, album, song title, genre, date added, whatever.

When you plug your iPod into your computer, iTunes should open up, and in the configuration you can select which playlists to sync to your iPod.

Then when the music is on your iPod, if you go to Music in the main menu, it will then ask if you want to view by Playlists, Artists, Albums, Songs, Podcasts or Genres. You can easily go to Artists there to view all the artists sorted alphabetically
