I'm an ME and need to take a literature class. I need it to involve the least amount of effort possible. Any classes or Professors I should seek out/avoid? Thanks for the help.

Ok Bateman or Joffe. I was also contemplating ENG 252 with Stamper because the authorsa were the most interesting. Any problems with this? Thanks for the replies too!

I had Stamper for 208 during the summer. He expected us to be able to do everything in a summer session that is done in a semester. Also, he gives a reading quiz every day and grades you on quality of your input in class.

.just take it at a community college over summer, you will have to write like 3 short ass essays and you will be done with it. I took it at Central Piedmont Community College and had three 3 page essays (double spaced). Got an A+, easiest shit i have ever done.

why? We became engineers so we didn't have to do much reading or writing. You wouldn't want to take a hard engineering class if you weren't an engineer.

TWW is getting filled with more and more worthless people that post worthless and useless information everyday...answer the question or just shut the fuck up

That's some ridiculous logic. Most of the engineers I've been in engineering classes with endlessly bitch about how hard our classes are: it doesn't sound like they want to take them most of the time, either. And I certainly didn't decide to major in engineering to avoid reading and writing (which is why I'm also an English major).

sorry, mister "psykorage from monroe who likes wrestling beaches and beer". I'm real sorry that there are people at your university who don't want to be associated with subliterate anti-intellectuals like the OP and, i presume, yourself.

go to a trade school. or take one of those Sally Struthers home correspondance classes. I dont care, just get the fuck out of my alma mater -- you people are driving down the market value of my degree.

Ok. If you had to take our course load, you would want an easy break too.

Its not that we hate to read. It’s because we don't have time to waste.

I have never heard such stupid shit. really? are you serious? WE aren't intellectuals! really? come on!
This is that same stupid rhetoric that you all tell yourself when we have jobs after graduation, making plenty of money, and you are stuck with the "intellectual knowledge" that could have been obtained from a public library, you stupid fuck. Now try to learn Thermodynamics, physics, chemistry and all the calculus and differential equations by yourself in a public library and then tell me who the intellectuals are.

Just because you major in English doesn't mean you are an intellectual. Remember Thomas Puncheon was studying to be an engineer.

Okay. I'm a ChemE and an English major. I don't desire a break from thinking or working. I'm sorry you're lazy and/or can't handle more than what's on your plate. Good for you. Just don't use it as an excuse.

I have learned thermo, physics, chemistry, calculus, Diff EQ (don't you feel like throwing in Linear Algebra? I've done that too... it's odd, we sometimes use these things called "textbooks" that you can find in libraries: you should look them up). Engineering isn't that bad, as proof by how many people still study it. Using the economic argument ("Hey, we must be smarter than you because we're paid more!") is obviously bullshit: I guess J.K. Rowling must be a hell of a lot smarter than you engineers, according to your logic.

It's Thomas Pynchon, you fucking ignoramus. He was an engineering student before going into the Navy, then transferring out of that department to be an English major when he returned. He worked at Boeing as a technical writer. Then he decided to write one of the best novels ever written and has spent the last thirty years writing, not doing engineering. He's also a hell of a lot more brilliant than you or I will likely ever be.

And you're right, it doesn't mean you're an intellectual. But likewise, saying "wah wah wah, I'm too busy to take a challenging English class" nearly guarantees that you're not one.

her comment was in regard to having to read the same material on an accelerated schedule. The in class time is the same for summer school and regular classes so inclass learning shouldn't really be different between the two. But there is less time out of class.
