I needed to setup a remote desktop like solution on some xp home machines so I setup tightvnc and hamachi. The problem with this is that hamachi basically works like an internal NIC. I set the metric on the regular NIC to 10 and the hamachi NIC to like 300 in windows, but with the hamachi adapter enabled, all other traffic on the WAN side is crippled, as if it's trying to go through the vpn first. Is there a way to specify which apps go through hamachi and which don't? I'm kind of new to metrics so I'm not sure if the answer is there or in the route table. Anyone know what I'm doing wrong? Is this just an issue with hamachi(or particular version)?

just use windows built in rdc

you can set it up so it is just as secure as anything else
