When will we win our first ACC game and in what sport? I am guessing it will be in basketball either at Clemson or Miami at home. What do others think of this historic collapse in athletics?

M and W Cross Country are both ranked top 10 nationally.They will both win the ACC just like last year. The M will compete for a NC this year with 6 5th year seniors.

W Golf is ranked 21st nationally.

M and W tennis both had their best years in school history last year.

Wrestling had its best year in history last year.

Baseball and Softball should be good as usual.

Some people are predicting the basketball team to do ok.

Honestly Lee Fowler has sucked since he got here. He got lucky that Sidney has worked out so well after the embarrasing search and O'Brien basically came to us, not Fowler recruiting him.

Fowler should get the boot especially with our horrid performance in many other sports, but now that Lowe has hopefully turned around the bball program and O'Brien will eventually get the fb program turned around, Fowler will get a a lifetime contract.

whats most sickening is that we're like the second largest school in the conference too

size isn't as significant a factor as a lot of things but if you look at who wins consistently its the big schools with the bigger talent pools

???? Bigger talent pools? I don't get it. It's not like major college sports hold open tryouts within the campus. They recruit from outside. Now, the bigger schools have a larger alumni base and can get more $$$ via donations to make their programs better compared to other schools but I don't see why having more people in a school is good for larger talent pools...

State has > 30,000. UNC < 25,000. That doesn't mean we have a better chance at filling out a more quality bball roster because of it. It's all about recruiting power.

^^^Not disagreeing with you, but basketball doesn't count. There are loads of small schools that field quality hoops programs, but fewer are able to do that with football.

yeah Its a lot easer to support basketball

I was thinking more about lesser sports (soccer/volleyball) and things like football where not every guy is a scholarship player

rather than just talent pool I should have said increased interest,fanbase,funding, media etc.

talent pool to a lesser extent but thats more of a high school thing admitedly

I know I don't have above a 1000 post but this needed to be brought forward. If these sports that I have listed don't matter than how about the fact that the last time NCSU won a major conference championship (Baskbetball, Football, Baseball, Women's Basketball) was in 1991 and that was women's basketball. There are only two teams in major BCS conferences that haven't won a major conference championship in the last 15 years and that is Missouri and NCSU. We have been on a slow decline ever since the early 90's but now it is really starting to show with poor results like these that I posted.

Fowler is an embarrassment of an AD. Almost every pathetic program has collapsed under his watch. As an alumnus I am irritated.
