so im using a laptop that doesnt have Adblock installed, and i just saw the banner ads on TWW for the first time in a long time.

normally all i ever saw was really lame Raleigh-area business promos. but i just saw a banner ad today, that surprised me.... im pretty impressed.

it is an advertisement campaign for "Vote No on Prop. 1". (links to http://www.notoprop1.org/ ... the same banner at the top of that page)

this is totally specific to the Seattle area --- Prop 1 is a proposition to raise taxes in King County Washington (Seattle-area) for transportation issues by $157 Billion over 50 years (largest-ever local tax increase, anyhwere)

i mean, i know my IP address indicates im coming from Seattle WA, but damn if im not impressed that TWW is putting up an ad for me about my local election issue.

oh, and by the way, im really pretty clueless about internet marketing strategies and methods.

o rly?

hmm. i guess you're using IE.

because popups just don't ever get through Firefox's popup-blocker. i really dont get any popups at all... here or anywhere else. unless I've specifically allowed them.

sometimes at work, I use IE just to browse XML files (only because i like the color contrast better) ... I might forget to close it and then go browse something on the web later, I get absolutely flooded with Popups. its a reliable reminder i need to shut it down and reopen Firefox.

I just dont understand why anyone would keep using IE.

i use firefox, i have the same popup blocker, and i dont get any notices of popups being blocked.

maybe because im in a different marketing demographic.
