Either

Street Spirit (Fade Out)

or

Though, really, I'd forgotten how much good music was on their first few albums. I've never really gotten into anything of theirs after OK Computer...

I don't think I'll ever grasp why so many people LOVE Radiohead so much that they name-drop them at every opportunity. Honestly, I just don't see how people can paint Radiohead to be some sort of musical god-team.

I mean, I like them, I listen to them, but they're really nothing special. Just an above-average band with quality musical talent whose songs all sound far too similar for me to promote them anywhere beyond "just another band I listen to sometimes." They're pretty fucking chill, but that's about all they're good for.

If anyone has a Radiohead song that is not just the same slow rock that makes up everything I've ever heard them release (well, everything except for Idioteque), please tell me what it is so I might understand why this band is proclaimed to be so great.

And in regards to the thread question, I like "Climbing Up The Walls". It's got a nice bass, and acually sounds original when I compare it to their other material. "Idioteque" is also very different, I'd put it in a close second. I like that it seems to indicate a attempt to branch out stylistically.

[Edited on February 21, 2008 at 4:25 AM. Reason : idioteque opinion, seeing how often it's mentioned in this topic.]

yeah pablo honey and Kid A are virtually identical, what the fuck?

I don't see how you can see "Climbing up the walls" as so much different and better while denouncing all their other stuff.

maybe you should actually listen to a few of their songs before posting stupid shit like "slow" in the same sentence as "everything i've ever heard from them."

I was going to name songs but decided against it, but I can in fact do it if you truly desire.

I said I liked it because of the bass, and the fact that it has a different feel than their other songs. Which it does. I'm not denouncing their other stuff, either... it's good music when you just want to sit around and chill out. But I haven't heard a song from them that would be good for anything else.

I'm not going to go out of my way to research a band that I think is mediocre compared to everything else I listen to. It's simply a fact that "everything I've ever heard from them" is "slow". You've heard more, I'm sure, and if it's not the same style as everything else, then maybe they are a better band than I thought.

Yes, I would appreciate it if you would post something of theirs that is a different style. You're the one that loves the band, I'm the one that is largely indifferent. You know the songs, I'm not going to go out of my way to find them besides asking in this topic.

Actually, though, on finding this thread, I did a quick search of youtube to see if they might have had any songs that I liked better... then I stopped said search after finding three songs I hadn't heard before, because all three sounded virtually the same as the Radiohead songs I've listened to in the past.

A different style than what? No two of their albums really sound alike. I can't believe someone could say Radiohead needs to "branch out." Have you ever listened to music? Do you have ears? What the fuck are you talking about?

i mean, why should I post non-slow stuff when you come in here all ign'ant saying that all their stuff is slow? I don't really give a shit if you like them, but saying all their stuff is slow is just dumb as shit, if you're not going to actually listen to their music enough to know that all their stuff isn't slow, then what the hell. You obviously haven't given them a real shot if you think all their music is slow, which is just lazy as fuck. and slowness isn't even the issue, why am i talking about it so much, they're incredibly different from album to album, slow or not. Shit I wrote an english paper on their musical and business progression(meaning their music changed with time...) as a band and got an A with flying colors

listen to the first two tracks of their newest album(15 step and bodysnatchers) and tell me they're slow.

plus it's not like all their slow stuff sounds the same, are you insane. I may post more songs later, but you are hopeless.
