I'd get directv if they didn't make me buy one of their packages... i would pay $50/mo for all the HD channels with nothing else. i don't want the XM radio stations (wtf? radio on TV), or 250+ channels I'll never watch. but the only way to get all the HD content is to pay $99.99/mo for the shit you don't want, then the stuff you do want is $10/mo on top of that. 10/24/2007 10:19:57 AM |

^ I don't think that is true at all. I get all the HD channels on Directv and don't pay anywhere near 100 bucks.
By the way I listen to the XM radio on there all the time. I have my satelite box hooked up to my surround sound, so I have it playing while I cook and have dinner with company. 10/24/2007 10:34:31 AM |

Notice the only way to get all 80 HD channels is to get the premier package at the bottom. the other packages only give you 40 HD channels with HD access. 10/24/2007 10:37:10 AM |

I pay 77 dollars a month for HD, DVR, plus I added the "HD package" where I get these HDNET channels that air HD movies, sports, other stuff in HD. I get 3 months free of that, then its just 6 dollars extra a month. Directv is Waaay better than cable. 10/24/2007 10:38:33 AM |

people with dish network have told me that they have absolutely no problem when storms roll through
but i can remember living in wolfcreek (which had satellite tv and internet) and losing signal all the damn time... shit sucked- underground cables ftw 10/24/2007 10:44:08 AM |

i have dish, and i have lost it twice in a year. my dish is pointed through a window in the trees.
clearwire is where its at... never lost it.
my neighbors roadrunner is always fucking up.
its nice to be able to hand them the modem rather than let them use my computer. 10/24/2007 10:46:07 AM |

Sure, if you want HBO, SHowtime HD and all that you haveto pay extra. You have to pay extra for those channels anyway.
I've never had a problem with my directv signal going out in the past, however since I have the huge HD 3-prong satellite I have had it go out a couple of times. 10/24/2007 11:05:30 AM |

DISHNETWORK FTW!!!!
it has the most HD channels I swear we get a new one every month too
we've had a few issues with really insane storms...i'm talking heavy rain, sideways and shit, and lots and lots of wind. ususally the VOOM network channels are the only ones that don't pick up on that heavy shit...but we still get all the other channels. 10/24/2007 11:24:48 AM |

just because you saw a TWC commercial depicting a guy on his roof during a storm doesnt mean its true. 10/24/2007 11:29:20 AM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148337 Posts user info edit post |
its not like i've used both TWC and DirectTV for multiple years each and realize that satellites do not get good reception during rainstorms...
haha remember that commercial when the dude meets his new neighbor...some redheaded chick...then he's fixing his satellite and she is changing or something and she busts him looking at her

by that logic you should just turn off whatever you have and watch all your tv at bars 10/24/2007 11:56:18 AM |
TreeTwista10 minisoldr 148337 Posts user info edit post |
what logic? yeah sure i wish i couldve watched some of the 5 state bball games last year on espnu at my place...oh no its the end of the world!
the only logic is that satellite signals are weakened by precipitation
hope you're not trying to watch the weather channel to see what time the hurricane is going to move on past your city 10/24/2007 2:27:33 PM |

I lost more service in the last 4 months I had TWC (before cancelling) from defective equipment and them accidently cutting our cable line (they thought it was our neighbor's) than my parents have lost in 6 years of directv service. 1/15/2008 4:50:05 PM |

I wouldn't expect to lose any service if I had to buy into a 2 year contract and get fucked the way satellite people do... 1/15/2008 4:51:39 PM |

my mom used to have satellite (though i cant remember which company it was through) & you couldnt watch tv when it rained (even when it wasnt a storm) or there was heavy wind
like i said, not sure if they had directv or another sat provider though 1/17/2008 10:17:25 AM |
