I hope not. I don't want to pay - via higher rates - for the negligence of others. Insurance is for accidents, not stupidity. 10/26/2007 1:47:49 AM |

My insurance would cover the stolen car, but not its contents. Yours (or the actual victim's) may vary. Read your policy.
[Edited on October 28, 2007 at 5:08 AM. Reason : i don't keep anything in there that wouldn't be covered by insurance tho] 10/28/2007 5:08:13 AM |

My ex-bf's insurance covered all the shit in his car when it got stolen from Talley. I think there was some sort of cap to how much they would cover though. 10/28/2007 8:14:32 AM |

methinks it depends on the policy
ex. If you have a bunch of high end aftermarket stereo shit it wont be covered unless you add a rider in most cases. 10/28/2007 9:14:51 AM |

Where in Greensboro? Just curious, since that's where I'm from/at for a while.

Yep, my brother's car was stolen, and he had his chef pants, jacket and knife set (basically, $texas) in the car, for school. It was all gone when they finally found the car, and he was screwed. Just had to restock everything he needed.10/28/2007 10:24:25 AM |

usually your car insurance, depending on the company really, will not cover items in the car if u were to get in a wreck or your car stolen or watnot.
renters insurance or your home insurance will cover the items in the car.
it sounds stupid but a friend of mine worked at an insurance company and said thats how it works 10/28/2007 12:24:43 PM |

i laugh at those people who go to food lion and park right next to the door, where it says fire lane......no parking
and they leave the car running with no one inside.

my insurance covers the contents of my car up to $300. the questions is, does the stereo count as part of the car or contents of the car? 10/28/2007 1:17:15 PM |

lol... Greensboro ghetto. My only question is "Which Greensboro ghetto?" (Plus it was A&T Homecoming, so almost all of Greensboro turned ghetto.) 10/28/2007 2:12:07 PM |

My friend had his window smashed and his stereo and subwoofer stolen.
They covered the window and the stereo, but not the subwoofer because it wasn't "secured" to the car with a chain or bolt or anything. 10/28/2007 2:21:59 PM |

To a point, that's not so.
If you dump your bookbag, with $200-$300 of textbooks, a graphing calculator, and miscellaneous pens and stuff (less than $10, but still) while you go run errands after classes, I fail to see the stupid.
Shit, in my car, I keep: - a complete set of everyday clothes - a complete set of work clothes (too many times, I've had to turn down a shift because I didn't have time to run home and change) - ipod adapter - phone charger - emergency cash - power inverter - my textbooks, most of the time
Not at all stupid.10/28/2007 3:22:22 PM |

Funny story:
My buddy and I went downtown to White Collar last night to meet some people, initially 100% sober. We took his car, but couldn't any parking near the place, so we parked on the curb by the train station (fairly sketchy area to begin with). Went in for about an hour, and when we went to leave, he couldn't find his car keys anywhere. Looked all around, asked the bartenders, no avail...so we figure he must have locked them in the car.
We walk back out to his car and there they are, in the ignition, doors unlocked, car still running. I'd have slapped him for being such a dumbass if I could have used my arms for anything other than keeping my face from hitting the pavement I was laughing so hard. 10/28/2007 3:53:35 PM |

Whenever I see a car running unattended I'm tempted to hop in and drive it a few blocks away just to make a point.
Of course, I would have to walk back to get my car, and thats when someone would kick my ass. 10/28/2007 4:08:53 PM |
