easy out of conference schedule leads to 10-2 record going into conference play. i could see an 8-8 conference record. 19-11, after a second round conference tourney exit, gets ASU into the NCAA tourney where they'll likely face State in the 5-12 matchup
1 Antwi Atuahene G 6-3 205 Senior Mississauga, ON 2 Eric Boateng C 6-10 245 Sophomore London, England 3 Ty Abbott G 6-4 195 Freshman Phoenix, AZ 4 Jeff Pendergraph F 6-9 230 Junior Etiwanda, CA 10 Jamelle McMillan G 6-2 180 Freshman Seattle, WA 12 Derek Glasser G 6-1 180 Sophomore Marina Del Rey, CA 13 James Harden G 6-5 210 Freshman Los Angeles, CA 14 Christian Polk G 6-3 175 Sophomore Glendale, AZ 22 Kraidon Woods F 6-8 190 Freshman Henryville, PA 23 Steve Jones G 6-1 222 Junior Portland, OR 30 Rihards Kusiks G-F 6-6 205 Freshman Miami, FL 32 Chad Goldstein F 6-9 241 Junior Scottsdale, AZ 44 Jerren Shipp G 6-3 214 Sophomore Los Angeles, CA
it will be exciting to see what Boateng can do. if anything, he'll take some pressure off Pendergraph. we'll see who gets the most burn at PG between Antwi/Derek/Jamelle. can Polk hit his jumpers? is Big Game James ready to win PAC-10 freshman of the year?
it will be a very exciting season.
BTW, 19-11 (8-8) gets Herb the conference COY award, hands down.....

Not trying to troll at all, but they have almost no chance at making the tourney this year. 8 of the other 9 Pac-10 teams look definitively better than ASU this year. I think the program made the right decision with Herb, but he' not a miracle worker.10/26/2007 2:25:00 PM |

Sendek on Eric Boateng's upcoming role at ASU
Quote : | "I think Eric has done a terrific job transforming his body. If any of you recall what he looked like, perhaps the first time you saw him in practice here last year, and then had a glimpse of him today, I don't think you could help but notice how he's almost a different person physically. Eric immediately helped us when he committed, because I think he gave us instant credibility on a national level in terms of recruiting. Then even last year, when he wasn't in games, he added great value to our program because of his character quotient, because of his leadership skills, and because of the kind of person he was, not to mention he made our practices better with his presence and competitiveness" |

lets see:
Arizona - ASU will split this season Cal - not better (anderson and hardin are good, but they lack depth) UCLA - better USC - better Oregon - not better OSU - not better Wazzou - not better Washington - better Stanford - we'll see when Lopez gets unsuspended, but with him gone they're not better

here's how I see it
Arizona - better Cal - better UCLA - better USC - better Oregon - It's close since they lost Brooks, I'll give you that, but I still think they're better this year Oregon St. - not better Wazzou - better Washington - better Stanford - we'll see while Lopez is suspended, but with him back they're definitely better
this is just a detailed layout of my opinion too of course..
here's how vegas sees it:
1381 Arizona +600 1382 Arizona State +2500 1383 California +1200 1384 Oregon +500 1385 Oregon State +3000 1386 Stanford +1000 1387 UCLA +175 1388 Southern Cal +350 1389 Washington +1500 1390 Washington State +300

Man, I still remember that UMd game like it was yesterday. Levi had all the looks of being a solid to excellent ACC player and then his knee popped right in front of where I was sitting... he was never the same.
Though he would play like shit all game and then out of nowhere pour in a DAGGER that would win us games from time to time. @ FSU is one that I can think of...10/26/2007 3:05:23 PM |

Yes Sputter we get it. You think they went 8-22 because of Herb. Not because they had no players with any talent at all outside of Pendergraph. And yes they will be better. Look at the recruiting class he brought in.
^^^Yeah at FSU I believe. That was a close game throughout. Levi actually had a good shooting touch. That knee injury has bitten several NCSU stars too often.
