bestbuy has an error in their system this week where in their ad they offer season 1 of heroes HD DVD free when you purchase the XBOX 360 HD DVD add on. Welllll.... they also have in their ad 2 free hd dvd's and a mail in rebate for 4 more with the purchase of an hd dvd player. welll guess what. in the bestbuy system, they have the add on classified as a HD DVD player. Not only that, those 2 extra hd dvd's you get can also be box sets (which value at like 100 a piece sometimes).

Soooo what you do is....

go to BB, pick up the heroes season 1 HD DVD set, 2 other HD DVD (box sets or others, but get the box ones for better re-sale) and then ask to get the hd dvd add on. they will walk you to the front with it. When they ring you up, you'll notice all the dvds end up being free and you will get the mail in rebate.

then either sell the dvd boxes to make back the cost of the add on or enjoy it all.

For those of you that dont have an Xbox360, like me, I think the Toshiba A2 HD DVD player (considered one of the better players I believe) is going to be on sale at Walmart in a couple of weeks...its also been on sale a handful of times previously. So you could potentially get in on this deal, then sell the add on on ebay and buy the Toshiba player in a couple of weeks.

Also, OP didnt mention it, but I believe the add-on comes with King Kong, as well as a mail-in form for 5 free HD-DVDs...limited selection, but there are some decent movies on the list (Pitch Black, The Thing, Full Metal Jacket, etc). Actually, you did mention a 4 movie mail-in offer, so Im not sure if we are talking about the same thing or not. Either way, I think its time I jumped on this format...Im ready for some new DVDs, but I just cant justify buying a DVD when I know I may want to upgrade in the near future.

I read about this deal on DVDTalk, sounds like the 2 extra being boxsets is not really the plan, but it was still working as of yesterday. Whether Best Buy as figured out whats going on by Saturday or not remains to be seen. Still a heck of a deal regardless.
