So I sold my TTA, and am looking for a clean C4 to buy. Possibly a C5 if I can find a good deal. Anyone know of anything?

No offense man, but older c4 and c5s are pretty gay. Slow, heavy, and they look like a ripped off Ferrari or something. Swap an GM or Ford V8 in, then it'd be kinda cool.

There's a few r's for you, you can add them in as you need.

That makes no damn sense. I rent a house though, but nice try.

I guess your EVO fits in nice down on the set of Fast and the Furious where you live in the back of the performance shop.

Fine, whatever. Delete in then. You guys sure do bitch and moan a lot. Thanks for the link at least.

Plus, every time I post something for sale in that thread all people do is whine and complain about the price or how they don't like what I'm selling.

You know it's sad when all you can come up with is being a grammar nazi.

BTW, you forgot to capitalize "you" in your first sentence! OMG PWNT!

Go back to your rice Gloveboy, I'm sure you have some altezzas and neons to order off Ebay.

^^when you write you instead of your or in instead of it....thats not exactly forgetting to capitalize your sentences on a message board. Thats being too fucking stupid to know which word you need to use.

oh and i'll gladly go back to my 'rice' and run circles around your soon to be c4. I hear your single wide will be tough competition though...those are pretty fast.

I drove a C4 (95 6 speed) for 4 years and had a blast with it. If I were to get another it would be a 96 LT-4. That being said the C5 is a 100% improvment over the C4.

the c4 is actually a superior high speed car. there's not much comparison in the overall power/handling though, c5 pwns.

it's a more stable car at speeds in excess of 120-130. it's also been found that in a lot of cases an lt1/lt4 c4 can attain a higher top speed.

Both are cool cars and come with some great motors. I wouldn't mind having one myself. Or just the motor.

if I was you i would look around for an 87-90 vette. Cause those are the L98 TPI with aluminum head. They dont have much horsepower from the factory, but it is a damn torque monster of a motor! and you can find vettes like this with 100k miles on em and semi decent interior for 3-8k all day. If you want the newer interior with the older body style, go with the 90 vette, same interior as 91-96, same exterior and engine as 87-89.

fuck torque in a sports car. that shit is for trucks and stuff.

in a sports car, horsepower (over a useable range of RPM, wherever that range occurs on the tach) is the bottom line.

of course, you could always build the motor in those cars to run strong.

^^true, i really like the tpi motors. they can turn out some damn respectable times for not much $$. free up the intake runners, good exhaust, and they'll move. i think 90 is my favorite c4 besides the gs/b2k callaway tt/zr1.

^yeah, it's definitely the bottom line in a theory based world... that's not always the way things practically work, though.

it's the way things work practically, too--when it comes to hauling ass. torque just affords you the luxury of being lazy.

if keeping an engine wound tight when you want the car to get up and go is a chore to you, though, maybe you're just not a sports car type of guy.

[Edited on November 2, 2007 at 2:13 AM. Reason : i will concede that torque has some impact in drag racing, but power is still the big dog]

I used to have a 90 L98 vette. So im speaking from experience. But if you do get a C4 90 and older, first thing to do if you want a huge improvement in performance is to replace the ignition system with a nice MSD or something of that line. New plugs, wires, and everything. It will make the throttle response SO much better because when those cars near the 100k mile mark they tend to bog down a bit more. Make that one of the first things you do to the car along with exhaust(long tubes and bigger diameter pipe all the way back) and intake(heads, runners, throttle body, air filter) mods like BBR said. And it will feel like a completely different car(and a lot quicker). you wont be disappointed.

Would someone care to elaborate on the C4 being a "more stable" car at speed thing?

what needs elaborating? i find that the c5 likes to start dancing around a little at higher speeds, c4's stay planted. any transitions at those speeds are smoother also.

Well, I'm just not sure how seriously to take this. I mean how many cars have you driven that acted this way, did you drive one on track? Shock/alignment, etc. can have a huge impact on stability, but more so the perceived stability of a car at speed, not to mention the variance that exists between two cars to begin with. Seeing as how both these cars are used, that raises the notch yet again. I've driven a C5 that felt very planted, I've also driven a C5 that felt loose. I've not driven a C4, but rode in a prepped one at a very tight course, which did feel substantially more planted, but that car was on slicks and race suspension. Thus I feel I can't compare them.

Isn't the C5 lower and on a wider, and most importantly longer wheelbase?

It's so much more advanced overall (at least I think so) that I find it hard to believe it would be less stable at speed.

^^doesn't matter to me how seriously you take it. it's just my opinion, and a lot of other peoples. i've spent an extensive amount of time in both models.

this is comparing stock for stock, when you get into custom alignments and other mods everything goes out the window. i don't deny that the c5 is a vastly better car 95% of the time.

this is the only corvette that should even be considered. I've driven my friend's c5 z06 with full exhaust and it is an absolutely awesome car. great handling, good looking, etc. regular c5's are a dime a dozen and lame, and though I like the looks of a c4 they're just too slow.

I wonder what causes the difference (between stock cars). I feel the C5 z06 is far more planted than the regular C5, and it seems the biggest difference is that it's just a bit stiffer...

imo it's the slightly different rear suspension design. i've heard some people say the c4 causes more downforce also, but i've never seen any numbers to back that up.

Man, I actually kind of want a C5, seems like one'd be a whole lot of fun. It's too bad they're so big. Hopefully I'll get over it, and won't have to feed a car like that with tires and other consumables.

that's another reason I want a Lotus.

even putting tires on the Evo fucking sucks. a Vette would be even worse. I just wish it was easier to squeeze more straight line speed out of an Elise.

I like C5s, though...but they are fucking enormous, and the interior kinda sucks. Oh well, you can't have it all, I guess.

i dont see how yall can say the C5 is enormous!? all corvettes are small to me on the inside, my camaro is bigger then a vette to me, but then again i am a bigger guy so..... or are yall talkin bout the long front end and wide ass on vettes? Cuz if thats all your refering to then just trust me on this, you get used to it very quick. but even then, i still wouldnt consider any vette to be huge. sure its bigger then a lotus or an Ultima GTR, but still, for the price and performance, IMO you cant beat a vette

they aren't talking about the interior room in any way, that's for sure. dimensionally it isn't small at all compared to a lot of sports car

i'm not talking about interior room. i'm talking about overall dimensions and weight. by sports car standards, it's a fucking hog.

it's a pretty capable, fast hog, but there are no two ways about it--it is enormous.
