cut/scrape off excess skin, coat with liquid wart remover, cover with duct tape, and leave it on for as long as possible. basically you're trying to cut off the oxygen. 11/1/2007 3:23:23 PM |

all those supposed home remedies suck, use apple cider vinegar. Put it on a piece of cotton and sleep with it over night, after the first day or two it will turn black then when you put it on for like the 4th or 5th day it will burn like a motherfucker and fall off. 11/1/2007 3:58:21 PM |

what kind of wart? if it's a plantar wart, you can try digging out the "seeds" in it, but those fuckers hurt like all hell
just go to the doctor...you don't want to walk around for a couple of months with duct tape on you 11/1/2007 4:00:45 PM |

Compound Dubya. You're not supposed to apply it once and cover it up. Reapply daily. 11/1/2007 8:07:26 PM |

Take a slice of potato and hold it on with a band-aid. It worked for me when I had one. There are a number of other acid based remedies and oils that work. 11/1/2007 9:46:23 PM |

I've had some luck getting a piece of dry ice and just using it like one of those home freeze kits. Worked just as well, was cheaper, and I had dry ice to play with. 11/1/2007 9:48:54 PM |

it's funny, i had a decent sized wart on my thumb for about 8 years or so. i tried everything to get rid of it and it kept coming back. i used all sorts of different methods and would get rid of the topmost layers and even down deep in the skin, but never all the way. then, about a month ago, it just died, on its own.
now my thumb is almost perfectly smooth. in most of th reading i have done, it says that you can never get rid of a wart with anything topical, your body just has to fight it off. you can get rid of tiny ones that way, but anything that's set in, you basically just kill off enough of it that your body can manage the rest. 11/2/2007 12:39:59 AM |

use one of the freezing kits, available at walmart. it doesn't need to be frozen to the point of all but falling off, just turning it white a few times will make it fall off in a few weeks. doc told me something about an immune system response to it after it was basically dead. 11/2/2007 2:36:33 PM |

I kept warts on my hands as a child, and I ended up with one on my knee not too long ago. Other than going to the doctor, I've had the best luck with just cutting them off with cuticle scissors or nail clippers and with the home freezing kits. 11/2/2007 7:04:10 PM |

I had a wart on my inner side of my finger for years then one day it just disappeared, I don't know when because I stopped watching it. Think it fell off or can they just capsize? OR WHAT? 11/2/2007 10:21:04 PM |

This is the correct answer. It's not a joke and it's way, way cheaper than freezing. A lot of times, you have to go back for repeated freeze treatments, which costs $texas.
From the link above:
Quote : | "Duct tape. A study in 2002 reported findings that showed that duct tape wiped out more warts than cryotherapy did. Study participants who used "duct tape therapy" covered their warts with duct tape for six days. After removing the tape, they soaked their warts in water and then gently rubbed the warts with an emery board or pumice stone. They repeated this process for up to two months or until their warts went away. Researchers hypothesize that this unconventional therapy may work by irritating the wart and surrounding skin, prompting the body's immune system to attack. In any case, duct tape is a promising, inexpensive, convenient treatment that may be especially good for children who find cryotherapy to be painful and frightening. If your warts are resilient, your doctor may even recommend using duct tape and salicylic acid." |

GARLIC and DUCT TAPE
buy a clove of garlic and cut off a little bit, put it on the wart and cover with a band-aid. It will itch like crazy but it kills the wart.
i've also heard duct tape works like everyone else has already said 11/3/2007 6:10:09 PM |

haha, i think i know what you're trying to say
but the way you said it makes me laugh
at any rate, one of my roommates in college had a planter's wart on his foot. He had it frozen several times. He applied the acid stuff given to him by the dermatologist. I think the doc might've even tried some other stuff. Nothing worked--it kept growing back.
He finally clipped it off with a pair of cutting dykes, then cut the rest of it out with an X-Acto knife with #11 blade (the pointy one that most of them have). Then, just to be sure, he decided to cauterize it. He tried heating up a wire or something, but it just wasn't doing the job, and it's pretty tough to do to yourself...so he asked me to do it for him.
I got out my soldering iron/gun and cleaned it up really well with sandpaper...then we wiped it down with alcohol. Then I got it nice and hot and put Steve in a sort of ankle lock where he couldn't yank his foot away, and proceeded to scorch the everloving shit out of the place he'd cut the wart from.
It never came back.11/3/2007 10:19:27 PM |

apple cider vinegar ftw. i had one on the bottom of my foot that i tried everything to get off aside from going to the doc. it was such a pain to get rid of because of the location. duct tape worked for about 2 weeks, and then it came back. the vinegar was quickest solution, and it still hasn't come back (4 mos. later). 11/3/2007 10:55:43 PM |
