I will never understand how pineapple is considered a legitimate pizza topping.

If you knew what was going on you'd have matched f & 2 and d & 4.

Obviously you've never worked at a pizza place.

I just have my own preferences

I used to work for a "gourmet pizza" place (with like 31 flavors)

but I think these 12 toppings are the most common

The following are not vegetables:

1) bell pepper (fruit)
2) mushroom (fungus)
3) olive (fruit)
5) pineapple (fruit)
6) tomato (fruit)

an onion, however, is a vegetable

find me an actual menu that calls them fruits and fungus

oh right, you can't

now match them with the meats or GTFO

^ Do menus call them anything? The only ones I have ever seen just list "toppings," not "meat" and "vegetables."

the menu at the place I worked at listed them as "Veggie"

which I don't believe referenced the fact that the toppings were all vegetables (they weren't)
but did make reference to the fact that they were all vegetarian (i.e. 'veggie')

plus, any pizza place that has a "veggie" pizza will generally list those toppings as veggies regardless of whether or not they are actually vegetables. in the pizza universe they are veggies.

it's all context

in this case, menu context where rice, beans, fruits, fungus etc. are all vegetables

not to be confused with grocery context, where pineapple is fruit, but tomato isn't

limpy is using the biological context

get matching!

only bell pepper, onion, and tomato are acceptable veggies
bacon, sausage, and pepperoni are the only acceptable meats on that list

I'm not afraid to say it. A good pizza should be cheese only. MAYBE pepperoni if that's your style. Anything else is to compensate for the shitty sauce/crust...

(all opinion btw)

As good as it gets... New Haven style pizza, also called Apizza.

Cheese and tomato sauce with a crispy rust. Classic Neapolitan style.

Yes, I'm a tool for knowing this much about a style of pizza.

New Haven style >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>> New York style.

This is not an arguable opinion. It is fact.

[Edited on April 16, 2008 at 10:40 PM. Reason : on a typical weekday night you'd wait upwards of 2 hours to get that pizza from Pepe's]

I still have yet to go to that place. And its not even two hours away. I must make this a priority.
