I'm sure Bry-Ry is experiencing multiple orgasms right now. But it's not health related.

Well I care because I'm a Wildcat. (NyM) Bry-Ry cares because he's jealous. And in general, everyone who is a college hoops fan should care because he's Lute Olson.

cause no one cares unless the team is really really really good and you just cant ignore them (USC in football). Horrible area for college sports

I would argue Arizona basketball falls in your stated 'USC category' as far as being continually nationally relevant

arizona's a good program, but they're not even close to usc in football.

yeah, us over here in the Pac-10 are totally irrelevant to college sports. Oh wait....we have 4 teams ranked in the top 25 this week? 2 of which are in the top 10 (which ironically does NOT include USC).

And what is that you say? Arizona has the longest consecutive trips to the tourney at 23? Yup. Totally irrelevant

So its not medical they say. Then what is it. His kids should be grown, he makes good money. I got think it is medical. I have heard rumors that he is showing early signs of Parkinson's. Sucks for him, but it will help his team band together.

It's not health related. He was at our homecoming game yesterday and the news was sudden and a shock. He has a huge family, most of which live in Tucson...(his kids are grown, but he's got lots of grandkids). I don't know what it is, but the word is that it has something to do with someone in his family.

you stupid fuck, you dont get it. Did USC sell out no matter who they played when they sucked ass in the late 80s to late 90s? NO

Could the average sports fan in LA name the starting QB for every team in the PAC-10? NO

I wasn't referring to the L.A. area being a good college sports town. I was talking about them being nationally relevant. When it comes to sports in GENERAL here, L.A. is low on the pole no doubt. It's probably why, for instance, we don't have an NFL team. But Arizona isn't L.A....and I can tell you, for 100% that Tucson is ALL ABOUT SPORTS.

when you were out where? L.A.? I just said that....
Or do you mean Tucson?

And for those that say, 'this is why girls shouldn't be allowed in sports talk', why? because I have opinion that differs from the majority therefore I must be clueless? You know who didn't think I was clueless when it came to sports? NBC Sports...when I interned for them.

um...now I KNOW you haven't been to Tucson because being that it is such a COLLEGE TOWN, during the school year the population isn't remotely 75% over 75 or a recent immigrant. But you go ahead and make assumptions and we'll just continue to one of the dominant conferences.

Well Tempe isn't a college town, it's a shit hole, as is ASU. They suck.

And my point is that if I was THAT SPORTS CLUELESS, I doubt very much that I would have been choosen as an intern.

just stop, you are making yourself look really really ignorant.... the fact that you have to be in the college town itself and not just anywhere in the state to find people that are passionate just proves my point

No. I'm not. I was responding to you calling everyone in L.A. fair weather fans...and I agreed. But you're talking about the entire Pac-10.

Just stop. Everyone knows the only relevant conference in college sports is the SEC. Everything else is just a step below. Their fans will remind you at every chance too, don't worry.

Billy Ray, who never graduated high school and works in a garage, from Mississippi will though!

^^ and the schools in big areas like the Bay Area, LA and Phoenix don't really even have their own cities caring too much..

Geographically the west coast is spread out 100 times more than the east coast so it's logical that everyone here isn't as big of a sports fan as they would be if they were physically closer to an actual team. Those people who live in an area remotely close to a sports team (L.A. being the exception because people here are more concerned with other crap, I can completely concede that) are just as big as fans...we just have more limited choices of sports/teams.

So I can call up Mr. Tacozapatos and say "Tell me the two schools that Bear Bryant coached at before Alabama and who were the members of the Pony Express" and he would be able to tell me?

90% of the students at any given SEC school couldn't tell you that Bear Bryant coached at UK and TAMU before Alabama even I bet.. they might get TAMU because of the stupid ESPN movie.

btw he also coached at Maryland.

I beg to differ... and we are talking about outside the college town itself... say your typical 45 year old male

he coached at several, but the UK and A&M stints I would expect any football fan to know

hold on, don't ever call any institution in the SEC (sans Vanderbilt) a college. they are not colleges. they are football teams. No one goes to an SEC "school" if they are smart or have any other options. They go there to drink and watch football for a few years before going back to work on the farm...
