So apparently Dennis Kucinich tried to bring a resolution to the house floor today to impeach Cheney. The Democratic majority leader tried to table (kill) the resolution, and initially, it looked like that was going to be the end of it. However, republicans realized that they could benefit from watching Dems fight over this thing, so they started to vote against tabling it. Then, democrats who initially voted to table it, started to switch their votes because they didn't want to be seen as "supporting Cheney". Eventually, the resolution was kept alive and got sent to the Judiciary Committee. In short, Congress is a giant fucking clusterfuck.

The resolution was effectively killed, as was expected. In the process the democrats showed once again how pathetic they are as a whole. 11/6/2007 5:14:42 PM |

Of course i imagine the Bush administration and Republican will bitch about the democrats for being partisan hacks and wasting congressional time on Chaney's impeachment; yet in the 90's they were the one bumbling around trying to impeach Clinton
Regardless of Clinton or Chaney's guilt in the allegations of each of their impeachments

From Chit Chat:
I support this effort, although I wish it regarded Cheney's misuse of executive privilege as well.
I don't care if this passes on the last day of Cheney's vice-presidency. He should be held accountable for his actions; otherwise, what's to prevent future presidents from engaging in the same behaviors? 11/6/2007 8:56:52 PM |

As much as I hate party politics, I have to say, I'm surprised by the intelligence the Reps showed here (however devious it might have been)... I would have figured that they'd just do whatever they could to get pressure (even outrageous pressure with no chance of success) off of the current executive administration.11/6/2007 11:07:34 PM |

I've decided that kucinich haters
are just a bunch of bandwagoning losers that are jealous of his wife and success
I mean, his ideas aren't that bad (for a democrat)
and anyone who makes fun of his height, should fuck themselves with a rolled up national enquirer

so what political ideology is it that allows you to view both Kucinich and Paul in a positive light?
We're not talking about Ford and Chevy here, or Ferrari and Lamborghini, or the Beatles and Stones. It's more like Dean Smith pulling for Duke when they play UNC.

that must be it
because it sure as shit isn't any consistant political ideology
I mean, I know Jesse Helms and Bono are boys and all these days, but Ron Paul and Dennis Kucinich? Get the fuck outta here. Being a fan of both of them would be like being on the sides of both the PLO and the IDF/Mossad.

not sure
but more than one online "candidate picker" put them both in the top 5
I disagree with paul's position on abortion and environmental protection (rep)
and I disagree with kucinich's position on gun control, school vouchers and universal health care (dem)
but they both voted against the war and the patriot act
they both oppose capital punishment
they both support marijuana decriminalization
they both support abolishing the federal reserve as we know it
I'm certainly not the first one to suggest that they are similar
there is plenty of "Paul-Kucinich 2008" talk, on both paul and kucinich sites

ahh, i see...it's the "social liberal, don't give a fuck about fiscal policy" ideology
there is a limit as to how far those two axis can be kept seperate, though. Almost no issues are really purely either a social or a fiscal issue...and on fiscal policy (which directly amounts to half of the political equation, and is strongly linked to the other half), I think you'd be hard pressed to find any two people in Washington more diametrically opposed.
To continue with analogies, wanting a Paul-Kucinich ticket would be like wanting a Roe-Wade ticket because they both like chocolate (well, before "Roe" changed her views on abortion, making her a "flip-flopper" and ineligable for public office anyway). 1/25/2008 4:08:07 AM |

no, of course everything isn't black and white. don't try to get away with that sarcastic cop-out.
the only ideology I can think of that would possibly even remotely accomodate these two candidates is being a social liberal who is completely indifferent to fiscal policy
on the surface, I suppose that's fine. In reality, it's not really viable, as I just explained. 1/25/2008 3:39:51 PM |

In any event, Kucinich is gonna "get it"--four other Democrats are trying to unseat him. PWNT!
Quote : | "Mr. Kucinich, a former mayor of Cleveland and a six-term congressman, has a tough primary fight on his hands in Ohio's 10th Congressional District. Four other Democrats are trying to defeat him on March 4.
One of his rivals, Joe Cimperman, a member of the Cleveland City Council, has been running commercials calling Mr. Kucinich a 'part-time congressman' more interested in seeking higher office. And Mr. Kucinich recently posted an 'urgent personal appeal' for contributions on his Congressional re-election Web site." |

Yes, his charges were "perjury and obstruction of justice" which had nothing to do with getting a blowjob.

still doesn't change the fact that the republican partisan hacks were looking for anything to nail clinton on and the only thing they got was getting an extra-marital affair blowjob. good going.
I guess if I was a GOP i would be upset that Clinton a democrat balanced the budget and practiced fiscal responsibility unlike his two GOP predecessors.
If you think about it the platform of the GOP if you look at there history these past few years is no longer the textbook "conservative fiscal policy, and responsible spending." When you vote GOP you are voting for hawkish neo-imperalism and Christian influence in social issues to "preserve" the moral fiber of america.
Don't get me wrong looking at all the candidates my lead candidate not counting Paul, is McCain. I'm just being realistic not idealistic 1/26/2008 1:57:14 PM |
