I've got a set of heads off of a chev. V8 casting #376450. the charts online say they are 60cc and come from a late 70's to early 80's 305. They came off of a motor in a 2 ton truck that threw a rod soon after I got it. The previous owner's widow said the motor had just been rebuilt and the heads look like it. I have a feeling that one of the rod bolts didn't get properly torqued. The piston didn't hit the heads and they are in perfect shape. Are they worth trying to sell or should they be on the next scrap metal load? I have never messed much with Chevrolet stuff so I don't know what is desirable or what is smog motor boat anchors.

The one thing that would bother me is if they are light duty heads. I definitely do not recall a 305 ever coming in a 2 ton chassis; I think you got a 350 if you got a small block. With the small valves (like 1.77" intake or something like that).

If they ARE light-duty heads, then I would think seriously about chunking 'em. They WILL crack eventually.

the truck is an ex fire truck and I know the motor is not original. I think they just put what they could find in it. I put a good used mexican made crate 350 in it and I hate to trash these heads since they are in such good shape. I've also got a factory cast iron 4bbl intake but they seem to be a dime a dozen too.

Well, if they've been worked and cleaned up, keep 'em. They'll most likely work fine for a truck or something of the like.

283, 327, and 350 are the only ones that woulda come stock in a 2 ton of those eras, but if they have just been rebuilt, they should fetch $75-100

I have a feeling they just rebuilt a pickup motor b/c it had a 2 bbl egr intake and HEI dist. Since I didn't have a spreadbore 4 bbl, I put it on the replacement motor and it runs fine. This truck is definitely not a long distance one so as long as it will run and the brakes work it's not a big deal.

I tried that and didn't get much interest, so I figured they weren't very desirable.
