i mean, if nothing else, when half the 1-a teams go bowling, it isnt good when you have to tell a recruit you stayed home

every bowl but the nat'l champ game is meaningless in terms of awards/championships, but they are still the spoiler on the car

the orange bowl is something worth going to. the (formerly) peach bowl is something worth going to. the car care bowl, or the boise bowl... i'd rather just stay home and not have to hang that banner.

Money, practice, and access to recruits are very tangible and lasting benefits. Shame from playing in a crappy bowl is an intangible and ephemeral negative.

Hell, I'd as far as saying that even the national championship game is meaningless. IIRC the only undefeated team last year didn't even get to play in it, so the season ended with a one loss NC and 0 loss nobody.

I'd imagine that a recruit would be much more impressed with any bowl game, at least more than they would be by a team that sucked so much they couldn't make it to one.

Plus the bowls happen during the recruiting dead period. So, the recruit can see the bowl teams on tv while not seeing or hearing shit about UNC.

you would be surprised how much the players like going to bowl games


have you seen some of the goodie bags the bowls give the players?? dig cameras, psp's and that is just for the shitty bowls, good bowls give out shit like xboxes

it is pretty much the only time players can get gifts w/out getting in trouble

we'll go to a bowl, theres somebody who will want a large state university, much easier to get a school with a 30,000 student base and alumni to travel than some 3~5000 base school

Although it doesnt mean shit if we make it to a bowl, we NEED to make a bowl.

The bye week made such a huge difference in this football team, and we have some really young players that could benefit from the extra month of practice.

IMO any bowl is better than no bowl, especially for this season. Lets beat the twerps next weekend and let the rest be history. This team will only get better in the following seasons, so making a bowl the first year of the TOB reign is not that bad of a starting point to build from.
