and can compare your results to general therapy?

went to a speech at UNC last week about the GerAc trials. it was real interesting, claimed that Sham and Verum acupuncture was more effective.

6 weeks instead of 6 months.
lots of news on this, sort of new (last few months).

just curious if anyone has hands on experience.

Seems like I read some study recently that indicated acupuncture was barely better than placebo.

They did prick you for the "placebo" but not in the right places and nowhere near as deep as regular acupuncture.

It was something like 48% felt better w/ acupuncture and 44% with the placebo.

*shrug*

well there are certain pinpoints where you want to press..

and research has also showed that the further away you press, sometimes helps.

i would believe a placebo would be conventional therapy, and not "placebo acupuncture" it just seems like that would not be a placebo.

i mean, if the needle tips had stuff on them, then yeah i could see how it would work.

seems odd

Yeah, I don't remember much about the article. Let me see if I can dig it up.

I think this is it: http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/health/7011738.stm
