I have complained to my apartment (Marquis at Crossroads) that our upstairs neighbor’s dog barks and whines when they are not at home (they are often not at home). First time the apartment’s response was they are not suppose to have dogs, the second and third was we will write a letter, etc, etc.
Three months have passed and nothing happened………is there a law concerning loud dogs & neighbors in NC?
I goolged but got nothing…… 11/17/2007 10:40:58 PM |

call and make a nuisance complaint to the police dept. call the non-emergency number. they will send an animal control officer over.
not positive they'll do this since it's an apartment complex... they may have to talk to the apt. management first. but it will be a formal complaint 11/18/2007 9:15:49 AM |

I totally feel your pain. The difference is the dog that is loud is INSIDE the apartment in this case. I have been waiting for the neighbors here to call the law because the min-pin that my boyfriend's roommate got will make this horrific crying sound whenever they crate him. He does it when they are here and when they are gone. Thank god we're moving in 3 weeks (and thank god it's not to the marquis...we researched there but didn't like the reviews it got) 11/18/2007 1:27:10 PM |

Talk to the neighbor about the dog barking issue. Stress how it bars/wines when they're not at home and that you will inform the office and/or police. The owner will find a way to fix it especially if the dog isn't allowed at the apartment complex. 11/18/2007 11:41:52 PM |

Tell them to get one of those collars that shocks the shit out of the dog when it barks. They have them on ebay. 11/19/2007 12:38:51 AM |

they'll come. i had this same problem, but next door when i lived in an apartment. the cops didn't really make it that much better, just temporarily...you just need to talk to them or hope that they move.11/21/2007 7:56:55 PM |

One time my neighbors came over and asked my roommate if we had a yappy dog because they heard it barking fairly often.
Turned out to be his girlfriend getting nailed. 11/21/2007 8:54:38 PM |
