Merriman is actually having a pretty good year, despite his sack numbers being down. His tackles are up, and he is better in coverage than last year. The team is just not blitzing as much as it did a year ago.

It looks like he was holding his arms/shoulders differently in the two pics. It can make a big difference, especially if you have big shoulders/traps. Don't think so? Stand in front of a mirror and hold your arms in front of your body and low, and then move them wide and shrug your shoulders some. His body and face look more relaxed in the second pic. The first pic looks like he may have put his hands on the armrests of a chair, and the second on his lap.

I'm not saying he hasn't gotten any smaller, but your use of the two pictures as "proof" is comical.

Barry was over 10 years though

Merriman was less than 2, and the first real example of a player shrinking afte he stopped taking roids as opposed to growing after he started to take them

I'll give you the neck is somewhat smaller, and the jawline is less pronounced. Face/head slightly skinnier perhaps. You can't tell anything about his shoulders, and it's difficult to tell how much of the neck difference is posture vs. less muscle.

Just a fluke play where Merriman was caught off balance.

If you've been watching the Chargers week in and week out instead of just the highlights and stats column, you'd see that Merriman is explosive as ever but teams are double-teaming and rolling away from him.

Reports of his demise are greatly exaggerated.

In case you missed it, Merriman was absolutely destroying people against Baltimore. Maybe the best all-around game I have seen him play. His stat line (7 tackles, 1 sack, 1 forced fumble) doesn't do justice to the distruptive force that he was out there.
