I'll be 29 in march and I'm thinking I should just sit still, save up more for a house down payment....and just keep the e36 for couple more years. Then again E46 M3 has been itching me for some time now, especially after test driving few (big mistake).
335i is still too expensive and sophisticated. e90 330i is priced right, but just plain jane. B7 S4 is appealing, aside 2 ton curb weight. e39 M5 is priced in vicinity of e46 m3, just not sure if i want all the maintenance that comes with it.
anybody else with new car itch? 11/20/2007 10:55:36 PM |

Peterbilt 379.
Fuck a house. I'll drive mine. Custom sleeper FTW.
Or maybe I'll go old school with a Pete 359 with a built Cummins NTC. Pittsburgh Diesel does 900 hp NTCs. And I'm all about that.
Maybe I just got a small wiener. 11/21/2007 1:16:14 AM |

You just hit the key words, there, sir. NO CASH. Besides, Ivan needs to make more off of the BlueBird than I can afford to think about paying. And when I do ever make enough money, I'm gonna buy something stupidly big, like a conventional, aluminum-stretch-hood, mega-sleeper, big-ass-diesel, 18-speed, OTR truck. 11/21/2007 1:21:54 AM |

I plan on my next vehicle being a beater 4x4...prob an 80s-early 90s Suburban. Good skiing truck this winter, and will allow me to carry a lot of my stuff and tow a trailer for the rest on my move back to NC in 6-8 months (which will make a few thousand dollars for me, versus having the gov't pay for movers to do it for me).
After that, a cheap-ish motorcycle ($2000-3500 range). SV650 or several year old 600cc race-replica, most likely (don't wanna spend too much money at the moment, don't want anything too powerful since i haven't ridden very much in the last 3 years, and don't want anything too expensive to chance banging it up over a XC move).
as far as next car, who knows? Once I sell the Evo, I'm not gonna pull the trigger on another badass performance car until I get to NC, and we all know I'm prone to changing my mind a dozen times between now and then. On top of that, it depends on which squadron I get assigned to and when they will be deploying...
but here's what I've thought about, in no particular order:
C5 vette/C5 Z06
E46 M3
Lotus Elise
another Evo IX
another S2000 (prob NA...if I go with another hot-rod, it'll prob be a different platform)
1G Miata (leave it stock, or close to it)
2G Miata (LS1 swapped and built to hell)
RX-7 (FD chassis, LS1 swapped)
Z3 (LS-1 swapped)
Super Seven (or similar flyweight kit car, potentially sportbike-engined)
would also entertain the idea of a 135i, but I doubt it. I think it's gonna be too heavy, too soft, and too expensive.
and if I end up with an stock-ish Miata or S2000, it will be as a stopgap solution just for the time I'm in NC until I get deployed, at which point I'll sell it and get something really badass when I get back. 11/21/2007 2:31:59 AM |

Right now I have a 1997 Z28 and a 2002 Z71 Silverado. I'm just fine with my current stable at the moment and don't have plans to buy anything else in the near future. When the time comes in a few years though, I will probably replace the truck with a newer Silverado or perhaps a Tundra. 11/21/2007 11:38:54 AM |

There is no telling. I've toyed with selling the S2000 for a while. I'd either drive the e30 full time, buy an STi, or wait until I'm ready to buy a boat and pick up a tow truck to go with it. 11/21/2007 12:05:56 PM |

gt3 is more hopeful but I would have to wait for a while....the 4s is more realistic in the shorter term
so buy a car I am not completely happy with, but still a great car, or just wait and get what I want. 11/24/2007 1:59:34 PM |

My comment is more about the fact that one is arguably the most easy to drive 911, the other is the hardest, what gives? I would imagine a Carrera S would be what you'd go for, if you can't afford the gt3, rather than a Carrera 4. What chasis are you considering by the way, 996 or 997? I'm probably going to pick one up myself. Ahmet 11/24/2007 2:06:35 PM |

hmm. I got the big pimpin luxo-barge in the Q45, the flakey but high performance sports car in the rx-7, so the only things I would consider would be:
--a shitbox for gas mileage, depending on what my commute will end up being in the future
--if I ever want to get into offroading, it will have to be a 4.0 5 speed wrangler. It's the only SUV I have ever liked because I've driven it and it's small and nimble. Although now I'm starting to like Tacomas and 22RE pickups because my friends have gotten into them and I've been impressed with the ones I've driven.
--if I need to pull or haul something, well zxappeal has convinced me of the superiority of the Cummins. I'd have to get a Ram.
--If I decide to get a brand new sports car, it may be whatever new rotary car comes out, depending on whether it can be half reliable and hit 13's in the 1/4.
