Ninth Annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge Matchups Set
ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU to Televise All 11 Games.

Matchups for the ninth annual Big Ten/ACC Challenge have been determined with the event featuring top college basketball programs playing for conference supremacy and the Commissioner's Cup on ESPN, ESPN2 and ESPNU. The ACC has won each of the eight Big Ten/ACC Challenges played to date with league teams winning 48 of the 75 games played in the Challenge.

For the third consecutive year, the event will feature 11 games (an increase from nine in the six previous years) from 11 different college campuses and include two telecasts on ESPNU, the 24-hour college sports network. ESPN and ESPN2 will combine to televise the remaining nine games. This year's event will be played on the Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday after Thanksgiving (November 26-28).

This year's schedule will be highlighted by the first-ever meeting between basketball powers Wisconsin and Duke, a rematch of last year's Ohio State-North Carolina Challenge game and first-ever Challenge showdowns -- Georgia Tech-Indiana, Wake Forest-Iowa, Boston College-Michigan, N.C. State-Michigan State and Virginia Tech-Penn State.

2007 Big Ten/ACC Challenge Schedule
(All Times ET -- updated July 25, 2007)

Monday, Nov. 26
7:00 p.m. ESPN2 Wake Forest at Iowa

Tuesday, Nov. 27
7:00 p.m. ESPN Georgia Tech at Indiana
7:30 p.m. ESPN2 Minnesota at Florida State
7:00 p.m. ESPNU Northwestern at Virginia
9:00 p.m. ESPN Wisconsin at Duke
9:30 p.m. ESPN2 Purdue at Clemson

Wednesday, Nov. 28
7:00 p.m. ESPN N.C. State at Michigan State
7:30 p.m. ESPN2 Illinois at Maryland
7:00 p.m. ESPNU Boston College at Michigan
9:00 p.m. ESPN North Carolina at Ohio State
9:30 p.m. ESPN2 Virginia Tech at Penn State

2007 Challenge highlights:

* Duke (8-0) is the only undefeated team in Challenge play.
* The ACC (.642) and the Big Ten (.616) are the two winningest conferences in NCAA Tournament history.
* First-Ever Meeting: ESPN will televise the first-ever meeting between traditional programs Wisconsin and Duke. Duke has won its previous eight Challenge games.
* Challenge Rematches: Ohio State, a participant in the 2007 National Championship game, will play North Carolina, an Elite Eight team in the 2007 Tournament, in a rematch of last year's Challenge game, won by North Carolina 98-89. Another rematch from last year will pit Illinois at Maryland. Last year, Maryland won 72-66 and also defeated Illinois 76-63 in the 2001 Challenge.
* Unfamiliar Opponent: Georgia Tech and Indiana's first Challenge matchup will also mark the first time the teams have met since 1969, an 87-65 Georgia Tech victory.
* ESPNU Televises Two Games: For the third consecutive year, ESPNU will televise two games, both at 8 p.m.: Northwestern at Virginia Tuesday, Nov. 27 and Boston College at Michigan Wednesday, Nov. 28.
* Since 2000, these two conferences have combined to make 14 Final Four appearances and captured four of the last eight NCAA Championships. In addition, the ACC and Big Ten rank either first or second in all-time NCAA Tournament bids, victories and Final Four appearances.

Is Virginia Tech that bad this year? Also how can you pick Michigan, when they are 3-3 while Boston College is 4-0?

The big ten is consistently overrated in football and basketball. I say the ACC takes it once again with VA Tech and State winning + the ones you already have listed.

I mean Michigan just lost to Western Kentucky. I think Beilein will make them a contender, perhaps even get them back to elite status (which I hope he does), but right now they just don't have the players he needs.

Also I wouldn't be surprised if Wake beats Iowa. Iowa's 4-2 right now with all of their wins coming against cupcakes. The two losses are to Bradley and Utah State.

^^^^^those are retarded predictions, have you watched any games this year? Michigan is really bad, as is Penn State (lost all 3 games in the Old Spice Classic)...both will lose. Plus I don't know how you can pick both Minnesota AND Florida State to win. The Illinois/Maryland game should be close, but I'm liking Illinois right now.

jesus christ... it's not suppose to be the current record in this season... it's in CHALLENGE PLAY!!!!

read

I added that stat only b/c it kind of stood out. I want the ACC to win, but if UNC and Duke lose too, then great. I wasnt trying to promote Duke in any way... just throwing out a (maybe) interesting stat.

nah i don't care about dook or ungay

i just want the acc to win

and honestly, overall record for this season is much much more relevant than the teams respective records in this one instance spread over 8 freakin' years

what if NC State was undefeated (8-0) in the Big Ten/ACC Challenge?

You would care because you would want to see if the streak can continue or finally come to an end.

Now for basketball fans in general (even sports fans in general), most find it interesting if a team is on any kind of streak, be it in the same year or over many years.

Also, there is another thread which is following undefeated teams this season, if that's what you're interested in. I hear they are nice people over there...

I'm thinking...

Wake Forest at Iowa
Georgia Tech at Indiana
Minnesota at Florida State
Northwestern at Virginia
Wisconsin at Duke
Purdue at Clemson
N.C. State at Michigan State
Illinois at Maryland
Boston College at Michigan
North Carolina at Ohio State
Virginia Tech at Penn State

Illinois/Maryland and State/State seem like tossups to me. UNC with Lawson handles OSU, but if he's still hurt they might very well go down.

Teams with an obvious tallent advantage and should be gimmies:

ACC: UNC, Duke, Virginia, Wake, Clemson
Big Ten: Indiana

Toss ups:
Minnesota at Florida State - Minn has a new (better) coach and Florida St. still has okay tallent.
N.C. State at Michigan State - Minus that UNO loss, we could be knocking on top 10 ranking too.
Illinois at Maryland - MD does well vs Illinois, but i think tallent-wise they are equal
Boston College at Michigan - Michigan has new coach and BC lost a lot of tallent
Virginia Tech at Penn State - Worst game of the entire challenge... both suck.
