You know what would work best? Go to the doctor and have them do it. 11/28/2007 2:06:37 PM |

I had one on my finger for a long time. I'd cut it off and put salicylic acid in the wound, but it kept growing back. Dry ice it or go to a dermatologist for the liq. nitrogen.
... or burn it off with a lighter if you're feeling bold. 11/28/2007 2:07:54 PM |

let the dermatologist freeze that sucker
sometimes it takes more than one or two trips
I had one that was about the size of a pencil eraser on my right index finger. It took 3 or 4 trips to freeze it off. That was a really painful ordeal. 11/28/2007 2:08:14 PM |

it's a virus. Sometimes they come right back, sometimes you won't see them for years.
I just go to the doctor, they numb it and cut it off, pay the $15 co-pay and be done with it. Heals up in a few weeks and you're good to go.
If you just use the over the counter stuff chances are you're not getting 100% of it out, which means they'll grow back within a month or so. The Doc cuts out like a half-marble sized area and gets it and all it's roots.
Ya, the freezing and the acid both SUCK. Sometimes takes 2-3 treatments, hurts like a $(*&%($* and you don't get any pain meds (although if it's cut off you really don't need them, just an aspirin or something.)

you could also try those wart-a-ma-drops. like you paint it on the wart and eventually it falls off. don't know if it works for huge warts though 11/28/2007 2:09:21 PM |

salicylic acid ^ did not work for mine.
i think the technical term for the cutting is called "pruning"
They froze mine the first visit. The skin died. When i went back each time they pruned it AND froze it.

Cutting/making it bleed will make it spread. I had two on my thumb one time. I went to the derm and she gave me pills that people with genital warts take and I had no warts within a week. It gets rid of the virus that floats in your body than just topical junk so you will have no more. 11/28/2007 2:13:07 PM |

haha, a wart isn't a tree, it doesn't have any damned roots

Well now I know. Thx!
Those are just blood vessels - I call them (erroneously) 'roots'

^interesting... I just can't bring myself to do it when I can pay $15 and get it done with the numbing stuff.
Do you sanitize the blade with alcohol or lighter? 11/28/2007 2:59:26 PM |

as many cuts and wounds that i get, i never get a damn infection, so much blood comes out, the bacteria cant get in 11/28/2007 3:13:06 PM |

i used to have a big one on my knee. get a garlic clove, cut up a piece into little bits, put it under a band aid. it will take the wart layers off and end up killing it. takes a little while, but works. you can take garlic pills also. 11/28/2007 10:44:50 PM |

cut a potato in half, rub the wart with the two raw ends. rubber band the halves back together, and bury it somewhere.
OR, rub a penny and the wart, find a witch, have her bury the penny. 11/28/2007 10:53:00 PM |
