the first year they did concrete canoe, they went to home depot and bought straight up ready-mix concrete bags.

most schools (like us) design their own lightweight aggregate mix and design the boat to float and support 2 people on a thin, light shell.

duke, on the other hand, built a canoe with like 1" thick walls. shit sank before people even got in it. SC state had a better boat.


so while their degrees may be worth more than ours to some, they sure as shit can't do anything in CE (dunno what other degree programs are like) than solve some problems out of a book. there's much more to engineering than passing tests. so i'm happier than hell i'm getting a state degree in december instead of a dook degree (and yes i could've gone there).
