firefox has some cool addons and stuff... but it leaks memory like a motherfucker. the people who like to develop for firefox remind me a lot of the different teams at microsoft.

vista is a disaster. lets make all this shit in parts and not follow a strict standard. then lets put all the parts together at the end, from 15 different programmers/teams - and force new pc consumers to beta test it until we can get these seams ironed and get a service pack out

HA I HAD A BAD DAY TODAY CAN YOU TELL. bitching about software.

I'm firefox as much as humanly possible. Can't live without all those nifty plugin's.

Except on my PDA. The Mozilla port on PocketPC just has too many bugs (unless they've recompiled in the last month or so) so I use IE and Opera on there.

I use Opera for 98% of my browsing, and usually IE for the remaining. I sometimes will use Firefox, but rarely.

I prefer the speed of Opera versus the expandability of Firefox. The only plugins I have on my Firefox anyways are the adblock and mouse gestures, both of which are built-in to Opera.

Opera on the Mac stinks, IMO, but maybe that's because I'm using a touchpad instead of a mouse. Firefox on the Mac is too slow (PPC version), so I use Camino which is based off of Mozilla's engine.

My only gripe with Opera on the PC is the same with Safari/Camino/etc on the Mac. Not all video embed plugins work 100% as they do on Firefox/IE. Most sites are getting better, and it's usually the local news sites that still use WMV/QT/RM embeds instead of flash that sometimes give me trouble in Opera

opera totally owns.
If a site says it doesnt support your browser, just mask as IE or Firefox.
And speed dial is pure brilliance.

^FF has an addon like that I think

I started with Firefox because of the extra security and nifty tabs, but now there's no way I'll go to IE unless its for ytmnd. I'm thankful I set my mom up with Firefox because yesterday she got a malicious worm/virus that is tearing her computer apart with advertising shit because she went to one site with IE that wouldn't work in Firefox. Lots of people have the virus, but it can't do anything to Firefox.

IE FTL

^ use mouse gestures. block content, fix up the gui any way you want, and be happy.

also, to get rid of the Ctrl F find window, go to:

opera:config

and in the quick find, type in 'search' and put the check in 'Use Integrated Search'

i dunno about a PC laptop. My Apple laptop w/ one left click button is worthless for mouse gestures

opera isn't quite the memory whore that firefox was for me.

i know that i can get the mouse gestures on FF, but they're built in on opera and i like the speed dial that opera offers now. I tried to get something similar on FF, but they can't really get close to that.

how does mouse gestures on opera work? on firefox as long as you have a left mouse button you can still do everything

[Edited on November 30, 2007 at 1:59 PM. Reason : speed dial?^]

hold the right mouse button and drag in a direction.

i.e.

RC + left = back
RC + right = forward
RC + down = new tab/speed dial

and you can set them to be further than that. I think you can do something like RC + right + up and get it to do something.

Speed dial is just when a blank tab opens up you have 9 boxes that you can stick bookmarks into and you just click the box to go to the window. Sort of like a quick graphical bookmark option.

oh, and i'm not sure if you could do it in FF or not anymore, but I like being able to google/yahoo/etc search from the search bar by using "g (google search keyword)" "y (yahoo search keywords)"
