NCSU came in at # 7 on the list

Quote :
"7. North Carolina State University- Brick, brick, brick, brick…it should be their fight song. The whole entire campus, I’m not even joking, is red brick. Is that supposed to be some kind of a character statement? it looks like a low income housing project. To throw in an accent of some kind, the designers must’ve thought, “Hey! Why not some metal?” and just put some random steel porticos around the campus and called it a day. And maybe some steel bars around the windows to make them feel smaller and more like a jail. That’s the spirit!

"

The guy who wrote this apparently doesn't like anything brick to begin with, anyway. At least we've got a theme.

Centennial Campus actually is very nice looking.

And I'm assuming that a portico is some kind of small structure or shelter or something. A rocket scientist does not need to know this.

haha, whenever someone who hasnt been to state asks me about state, i tell them its nothing but bricks & squirrels & they always reply that all campuses have tons of brick

i then have to send them pics of campus to show them that theres a difference between lots of brick & the state campus which is nothing but brick

UNC Asheville is rather pretty

from the library steps you can watch the sun set behind a mountain
night before last the sunset was blood red... a crowd gathered to watch in spite of the cold

State's campus would look 10x better if they hadn't felt the need to put roads and parking spaces EVERYWHERE. I really think that's one of the difference between State and UNC....Carolina has grassy quads. We have roads going everywhere and way too much on-campus parking. You can have convenience (park right next to the building, at least if you're faculty) or you can have scenery (a very large percentage of folks at UNC have to use park-and-rides). Pick one.

Their buildings aren't that much prettier than ours. It's the landscaping and the roads that make a difference.

These people obviously never went to Richard Stockton State College in NJ

It is easily the ugliest college I have ever been to. Its like an airport terminal with an old 70's paint scheme. The rec center is a square corrugated steel warehouse building.

UGH

I grew up 5 minutes from Stockton. Why the hell were you there?

Stockton was trying to do a modernist thing back in the day. That's why it looks old and industrial now.

The entire list is discredited by this entry, we went over this campus repeatedly in Architecture school here at State.

I am from Mass, and UMass is by far one of the ugliest campuses I have ever seen. The entire campus looks like a sidewalk.. gray, ugly cement.

like the guy above me, i am also from massachusetts. UMASS is a piece of shit and worthy of the #2 rating. I wasn't about to spend 13k (in-state tuition) to go to that shithole when I could pay a little more (out-of-state tuition) to go to state.

Psh it really depends on when you're on state campus. Late fall and in winter sure, but summer and spring the campus has some fairly beautiful areas.

theres also basically no parking on/around unc's campus, which is reallllly inconvienient and makes getting to class on time a bitch (if youre one of those people, like me, thats always late)

these always come out, and it's always evident that these people did not go to east campus. i guess that's fair, since most of us don't have classes out there... but it is there.

I like UNC's campus. I had a class there and it was nice not having 80 million roads cutting through it everywhere. I think Dan Allen is a disaster and should be changed so that the whole city doesn't use it as a cut through. Try taking a bus to class that comes down Dan Allen. It takes 15 minutes around noon to get through it sometimes.

i've always said to people who tell me state's campus is ugly:

"i didn't come to college to take pictures"

to UNC kids who told me state's campus is ugly:

"enjoy your pretty campus. i hope the starbucks you work in 4 years from now is pretty too."

those two usually cut the smartass comments short
