Anyone done this? Is there any noticeable difference?

I ordered a book from half.com, after I pay for it I get a message saying it's the instructor's edition. I cancel that order because I wanted the student edition, and found the same book for 10 bucks cheaper on the Amazon.com marketplace. So I get the order from the Amazon seller today and lo and behold, it's the instructor's edition with what looked like a form letter saying that they noticed that it was the instructor's edition while shipping it. I'm pissed, but I can't find the book for as cheap as I paid for this one, so I'm thinking I may just keep it and leave them negative feedback.

I did that too, and I didn't realize until after I got it here that it was the instructor's review copy, and apparently it's the exact same as the student copy, just has something written on the front cover

These are generally illegal to resell.

Yeah, on the cover of the book it says resale is illegal.

I guess maybe that's why these sellers weren't advertising the fact that they were instructor's editions.
So hopefully if I keep this book I'll be able to sell it somehow.

these are the books that publishers send to teachers/professors to review course material to decide if they want to use that particular book in their course or not

yeah done and done

it wouldn't be a huge deal, except I don't want to be stuck with a book that I may not be able to resell.

I'm waiting until the credit actually hits my credit card before I remove the negative feedback.
