the reason you can't get one shirt screenprinted is because it takes a shit ton of time to make the screen
your design has to be etched into an actual mesh screen
one for each color in your design
it's a very labor intensive process (both etching the screen and the actual screenprinting)
i'd expect you'd pay upwards of $60 for one shirt. 12/7/2007 3:39:59 AM |

it's best to find like 15-20+ people who want the same shirt as you and go from there 12/7/2007 3:42:12 AM |

cafepress or zazzle are your best bets for just one shirt. the setup and the shirt will indeed cost at least $55-60. 12/7/2007 11:14:56 AM |

Making screens takes about 5 seconds. They have machines that do it. You just place a black and white image on the screen, run it through the copier (for all intensive purposes) and your screen will be cut wherever there was black. YOu do this for each color. I have done this numerous times, and have taught it here at State. 12/7/2007 11:30:09 AM |

what do you want on the shirt?
there are DIY options here
the iron-on applique works but doesn't stand up to washing and kind of sucks
the stencil and fabric paint method is really as good as your arts and crafts skills my roommate has some nice shit that he made... the key is to not get too technical (until you're ready) 12/7/2007 11:32:10 AM |

I wouldn't mind a shirt with just this on it:
(for all intensive purpose)
---
anyway, how many colors is the image? you should make yourself a stencil for the image and the words... takes more time, maybe, but its a whole lot cheaper
I like to watch bad movies while I cut stencils - one of my favorite stencil-cutting movies is Volunteers with Tom Hanks 12/7/2007 11:36:00 AM |

read up on how to make a stencil
how complicated is the image, really?
you should be able to do this for a few hours labor and like $15 at the craft store that's shirt included 12/7/2007 11:47:32 AM |

the image is very simple
the text would probably be a bit more difficult than the image actually 12/7/2007 11:49:11 AM |

text can be a little annoying... especially if there's a lot of it consider cutting stencils for the individual letters and arranging them... masking tape is your friend here
if you're using fabric paint a foam brush is a good idea 12/7/2007 11:51:08 AM |
