Out of curiosity, why would you specifically look for a Mexican one?
I think I have one, but I'm not selling. It's either Mexican or Korean; can't remember. It's a Squier anyway.

american made strats are generally(99% of the time) better than mexi's in every way shape or form. whoever told you mexi's were better was grossly misinformed
however, with that being said, mexi's are not bad guitars, and with some good aftermarket pickups they can usually sound just as good through a good amp setup, especially if you get a mexi that was built well (mainly pertaining to bridge/fretwork). so if youre buying a guitar on a budget, getting a mexi with after market pickups is probably a good idea, and i definitely wouldnt condemn it.
just saying that your info is way off
