Their life span is about 2.5 yrs... he gave it a good run. It is now flush time.

I just had to flush my dead betta. RIP Cuervo!

had one for 2 years... sucks when they finally start givin out.. some have lived longer but i dont think it happens too often dnl. making sure the water is always clean is the biggest thing with keepin a betta. if you do that and feed em right theyll live a pretty dang good while. good luck

If it makes you feel any better, I thought one of mine was dying for about 6 months before he actually died.

lol who is that^^^^

and its super sad...i've been told i have the coolest looking betta ever...black and blue...i read on wiki that they can live like 4 years normally and 10 years ideally...i figured mine was gonna live til at least 5 years i kinda want to end his life now instead of waiting for him to die just so i wont actually have to see it dead...idk my friend said he thought his was gonna die when it stopped eatting as much and then like a week later his died, so everyday i wake up i feel like i'm gonna look over and see him dead

^^^ yeah he just hasnt been himself lately...i dont get it

^^ i'm sorry...how old was he/her

^well thats "kinda" encouraging

how big is the tank?

Usually those drops are supposed to be 1 for every 5 or 10 gallons.

Try feeding him real food if you're not already. I had one that would not eat "betta food" I had bought which was made of dried bloodworms. Anyway, he went for almost a full month without eating and I just figured he was going to die. Then one day when I had been to Red Lobster I had this take home plate with some skrimps on it. I broke him off a piece of skrimp and dropped it in the water. He ignored it at first as he did everything else I put in there, but when the aroma made it's way to his nose he went ballistic. He had that skrimp pinned to the bottom of the tank and he was tearing it up. From that point on he just ate whatever I ate. If I ate hamburger, he at hamburger. If I ate steak, he ate steak.

don't feed it too much food. Un-eaten food will foul up the water and kill the fish.

i wouldnt mind getting one of those lilly things so i wouldnt have to feed it and it could just eat the roots...i dont think i could keep the lilly alive...i think they need a lot of light...i think your betta looks pretty cool

I don't think you're supposed to make them eat just the Lily roots. I think they do that as a last resort so they don't die. It's kind of like when starving people eat grass and bark off trees. It would suck.
