We shouldn't overlook these guys. They gave Cincy a scare, which gave us a scare. You would think after UNO and ECU losses, we wouldn't overlook any team from now on but we always tend to play to our opponent's level. Hopefully we win by 20+ but it'll be closer then that.

just because you're not most likely to win a specific game of the nine doesn't mean that that it's predicting that we will lose all nine of those games.

doing the quick math, kenpom's only got us with a six percent chance of us losing all of those games.

also as posted on the prediction page:

again. you don't understand stats

let's do a very simple example:

say you have a 49% chance of winning 3 successive games.

so chances are you would lose each one of those games if looked at individually. but the chance that you would lose all three of those games is less likely:

WWW: 0.49*0.49*0.49 = 11.7%
LWW: 0.51*0.49*0.49 = 12.25%
WLW: 12.25%
WWL: 12.25%
LLW: 12.75%
LWL: 12.75%
WLL: 12.75%
LLL: 13.27%

so you see the three loss possibility the most likely specific possibility. but there is still only a 13% chance that team would go 0-3, whereas there is a 38.25% chance they would go 1-2.

and similarly i just did the math for our last nine games in excel and there's a 21% percent chance we'll go 1-8 compared with a six percent chance we'll go 0-9.

i'm not saying this is how our season will actually go. but based on our stats so far, it's not too far-fetched. unfortunately formulas can't really take into account a team that is young and learning and improving with each game (or at least this one can't)

I think you dumbshits (minus sarijoul, that is) failed to realize that "prediction" says we'll lose 14 more games while "projected record" says we'll only lose 12... that is, of the 14 he's "predicting" we'll lose, we'll win 2 of them

We are going against former assistant under Herb, Larry Hunter, so don't give him too much hell. He actually helped us a lot when he was here with our offense and getting us into the NCAAs.
