What'd you really think about this movie?

I think I could like this movie more than I did but I also think I could have hated it more than I did. And, of course, it was forgotten about 10 months ago...

terrible. i kept waiting for all three plotlines to be tied together in a way that made sense, but it never happened.

it did make sense... the scientist discovered immortality just as his wife died, remembered her story about a tree being a person, planted it on her grave, and then used his immortality to wait until there was technology that could take them to her heaven/star (altho by that time the tree was super old and dying). Interspersed was the story his wife wrote as a metaphor for their life, with the ending showing that he does find eternal life--because life is eternal. As her body became the tree, so the conquistador's became the grass.

I love this movie! I think it is very underrated as well!
It reminds me of how the Red Violin was very underrated!

I have the movie on DVD and haven't watched it yet. But I was thinking of buying it on Blu-ray because, from what I've read, it would be gorgeous in HD.

i own it on Blu-Ray, and it is quite gorgeous. It's not the best HD transfer I've ever seen or anything, but it definitely bumps the visuals up a notch.

this was honestly one of the worst films I have ever seen. And I say that knowing that I was looking forward to the film and thought it would be great.

weird, without seeing this thread i watched this movie tonight. picked up the dvd when it came out but hadn't watched it since the theater. i love this movie but its not something i can watch often.

Was that movie??!? I watched it on my DVR yesterday and couldn't figure it out for shits. I mean I have an idea how it's all supposed to link together, but WTF. Somebody needs to beat that director senseless.
