All of these hits pale in comparison to two of the most brutal hits in football.

1960 New York Giants vs. Philadelphia Eagles. Chuck Bednarik blindsides (it was a legal hit though) Frank Gifford and the resulting hit gives Gifford such a severe head injury that he has to leave the game fro 18 months. It's a pretty nasty hit if you've ever seen it.

2003 Miami Hurricanes vs. Florida State Seminoles. Florida State cornerback Stanford Samuels hits Roscoe Parrish on a crossing route. Parrish's helmet was knocked off on the jarring hit. He tried to walk off the field under his own power but was wobbly and dropped to a knee. He was down for several minutes before being helped to the locker room. He was taken to Tallahassee Memorial Hospital and placed in the intensive care unit. The brutal hit caused Parrish to have internal bleeding and blood in his urine. He was released two days later.

this gets my vote. This was a great example of what happens when 170lb speedy players try to run a crossing route against a good defense.
