I'm lucky. I've got friends my age who are 50% or more gray. I have damn few gray hairs on my head...you can't even see 'em most of the time. My dad had a lot more than I do when he was my age.

I went about 12 years with facial hair of some sort...a goatee or a beard. And when my wife and I separated, I decided a change was in order and shaved. I've been without facial hair for a little over two years.

And again, I decided...time for a little change-up. Soul patch time. I mean, why the hell not...

So I'm eating dinner with 69 and his woman, and he says, "Well goddamn, you got a soul patch on your face. Where the hell did that come from?" Never mind that we've been hanging out a lot over the holidays and what have you.

Then I looked closely in the mirror tonight, just a few minutes ago. Damn near every bit of the hair on my fucking chinny-chin-chin is gray.

Hard to see compared to the reddish-brown it used to be.

facial hair is definitely the first to turn gray, so don't worry about it!
