thats usually where i get gas when i leave town to the east. its a lot cheaper between gso and raleigh

on the other hand, its like 20 cents a gallon higher (3.20 for premium) if you go down to asheboro.

It's not there anymore, but my favorite sign ever that I've personally seen was the RAMADA hotel sign near Richmond alongside I-95 that someone had rearranged to say ARMADA. It was like that for a couple of years, too (I think the hotel was closed all that time) but it finally got taken down when someone re-opened the hotel under a different brand name. The reverse side said RAMAAD.

(Not my pic, found it on flickr though...)

i have to go to raleigh more than i want to, just because official county business is done there. but i still mail all my crap unless absolutely necessary

or unless i need receipts. and if i cant find the time to go there and drop off checks, i photocopy everything im about to mail onto a sheet of legal paper before i mail it, just so i have proof.

call me paranoid, but life has been 100% perfect since i left that terrible place and i will do whatever i can to avoid going back

^^ I laughed my ass off about the ARMADA sign. Mostly because of a kids in the hall skit about a band called rod torkelson's armada featuring herman menderchuck.

[Edited on January 5, 2008 at 3:27 PM. Reason : I saw the sign a few times.]

Also, I always read the "Efland" exit off 40/85 as "Elfland".

I always liked that one too. And yes, I did notice when I had to drive to Richmond last month that the sign has been replaced with one for the current brand of hotel.

That Armada sign was actually the name of the hotel after that ramada closed.

Really? Haha, Armada Hotel...nice. Though you'd think they would have wanted to spend the money to fix the other side of the sign so that everyone northbound didn't see RAMAAD...

Until just a few years ago, there was a still a "Home of the KKK" sign when you entered Johnston County from the south.

^^^ haha, there was an Armada sign just like that and that was the name of the hotel on I-95 in CT... we used to party there because the place was so sketch that no one would ever complain about a bunch of 15 and 16 year olds drinking in the rooms..

Plus it was one of the few places that would rent rooms to kids (CASH only) so if you wanted to get drunk and hook up without risking the family walking in it was the place to go.
