LOTS OF WORDS (warning author so bored)

I had a couple of close run-ins with TB a few years ago between an old friend who got it and the stripper living at his house that he got it from. I shared furniture and remote controls (but no vaginas) with the group, as I spend a decent amount of time at the friend's house.

That was like 4 years ago I think. At the time, no one (but the chick) knew there was TB around. He stops fucking the stripper and I drove her back to like High Point cause I'm nice (plus I had to bring a kitten to Greensboro)

SO, like a couple months later, my friend moves to Cleveland. He calls me and said that on a routine doctor thing, he had DAT TB. Still this was 4 years ago or so. He said that he was a dormant type. Anyway I wasnt getting MOUG from the guy so I didn't think a lot of it (although a couple friends went and got TB tests at gunpoint from girls they knew). No one had it.

Anyway, I was telling a story tonight and remembered the whole TB incident. When I was first thinking about rehab, before anyone would let me in their rehab party, i had to give all kinds of blood and be screened for MAD DISEASES YO. so when i came back clean for everything buy syphilis (sorry ladies) i figured no need to worry about the TB. but then i thought about it more tonight. I lived with that TB carrier for like 2 months (if you remember my travels, it was when i was in Arizona in summer 05). I had blood taken in july 05 specifically for disease testing, and i have had it taken numberous times since then for VERY VERY VERY INVASIVE DRUG TESTING and to make sure that I didn't fuck up my natural level of endorphins and this and that while i was on drugs, basically a lot of the mandatory drug testing is a lot cheaper if i let them check out other stuff while they're at it.

plus i really don't mind cause its kinda neat.

LONG STORY SHORT (skip here if you hate words):

if I had TB, and passed a specific test for it about 18 months ago, and have had plenty of blood drawn since, it would have shown up by now (3-4 years), right? is there a such thing as being a carrier that tests dont detect (LINK PLZ)? hell its not like i fucked the girl with tb and slept in the bed with her, i just knew her and the guy she was fucking

yeah i know its an odd thing to be wondering about but i got into a strange conversation tonight. i have an appointment with my general accupuncture doctor friday so i think i might just get him to test me again so i wont freak out. unless thats stupid and a waste of money.

The probability of transmission from one person to another depends upon the number of infectious droplets expelled by a carrier, the effectiveness of ventilation, the duration of exposure, and the virulence of the M. tuberculosis strain"

It seems unlikely that you would have gotten it and not had it detected given repeated tests for all kinds of stuff. I would suspect that TB is something they would test for prior to rehab given the proclivity of intravenous drug users to contract the disease.

PS - Seriously, a TB question in the US in 2008?

do you have a positive ppd?

the lil test where they inject just under the skin?

i would go to your family doctor, so you can get a chest xray

TB is extremely contaigous, its airborne, you can get it from across the room if someone has active TB.

if you have dormant TB you would have nodules in your lungs from where your immune system has walled the infection off. if you suddenly become immunocompromised you could develop active TB and spread it around

yes and there are resistant strains coming out

How has someone used this site for 1042.7 days and honestly wonder something like this. Especially when jackleg is the one asking the question I wonder what you're like in real life. Probably awesome. I hope that you don't have a bad opinion of me because of the types of questions I ask, and that we can someday hang out and do some awesome shit!

Also, I don't think this question deals with anything life-altering. I think it's either done or it's not I hope you see it my way, because you seem to be one of the cool wolfweb people, and I really hope my behavior didn't cost me the chance to bro out with you, bro.

If you're particularly concerned, you can get a blood test done that's more accurate"

maybe I didn't clear it up, Dave. I've had the bubble dot test thing like 4 or 5 times since then, and I've had tons of vials of blood drawn. So I'm pretty sure they would tell me if I failed something. I just started wondering out loud while typing

also, for brainysmurf's question: i sure don't. never had, i don't even have any symptoms. actually now that you mention x-rays, i had a lot of chest x-rays after my car accident. don't know if that would show anything if they weren't looking for it.

anyway, only reason im wondering is because im thinking about it, not cause i failed any test or found out new info. just that a friend was exposed to a ho with it like 4 years ago

^Yeah, I initially misread it and was thinking of a negative PPD instead, hence the edit.

It's possible for TB to stay latent for years, so not developing symptoms so far doesn't necessarily mean you don't carry it.

And yes, it's also possible to have a false-negative test result.

In order to answer this, you need to know exactly which type of blood test was done before you can decide whether a negative test result is really useful. Get your records and consult a physician.

i wonder why you dont ask about some of the people why are talking about serious stuff.. or looking for serious answers sounds like more of a question for the people who want dating advice, not people asking why their johnson turns purple and squirts out blue goo when they pee !!

yeah, if you had nodules, the radiologist would have mentioned it in his report. If they see anything even remotely suspicious they recommend further tests
