Been playing Ninja Gaiden in its various forms for a couple of years now, I'm really excited to see this finally come out. Ninja Gaiden is probably one of the hardest console games out there, hopefully the same is true for Ninja Gaiden 2.

According to the game's description on Xbox.com, it features "a newly implemented auto-healing functionality and save point system" that restores "semi-permanent damage" at save points. The new health system -- apparently coupled with numerous save points -- is obviously a nod to the more casual gamers out there, but it also serves as a warning sign to the hardcore gamers who found the original Ninja Gaiden's extreme difficulty to be a blessing. The official description notes that the game will be accessible to casual fans but also "challenging to even the most demanding gamers." We hope that's true, or else it could mean the last vestiges of old-school difficulty have finally been wrung from mainstream video games.

Maybe the ps4 users will get a version of the game 2 years from now. They will swear its the best game they have ever played on the console. The majority will be oblivious to the fact that it is an exact replica of a prior version released on the 360.

fuck, i've forgotten how hard the next to last (?) level is, where you have to fight through the four? level gauntlet with the ghost fish ramps, kill the chain of lesser bosses, kill the flying demon boss, then open the doors to hell and kill the 100 foot stone bitch with the fucking beams while floating around on a random piece of rock, and THEN fight and kill the cackling stack of flying skulls that is Satan.

Sure, there's a save point between the major points, but god damn the fact that to get to the closest store you have to go back through the levels of hell, with the ramps of ghost fish, and through the city to the old man's store. Unless I'm missing an outpost that's in the labyrinth somewhere...

^Yeah I'm actually at that point in the game too. Those damn fish are so fucking annoying. But when you do go through the gauntlet once, you don't have to do it again. You can just run by all the bad guys that spawn when you enter the room. You do have to deal with those damn fish each time though.

A strategy I've found that works really well with the giant stone thing is as follows:

Before you start the fight, make sure your dragon sword, fireball spell, and the armband that decreases your charging time are equipped. The second you get control, start charging up your level 3 spin attack (assuming you have leveled it up all the way). You can still move the rock while charging, so while it is charging, go up to the statue's right shoulder and once it is fully charged, release. If you are lucky it will do a fairly large chunk of damage and after a few more sword swipes the jewel on the shoulder will break. Go over to the left shoulder and do the same thing. If at any time one of the laser beams is about to hit you, use your fireball spell, it will make you temporarily invincible and if it hits the statue thing it will deal a large chunk of damage. Once the other shoulder is done, just go nuts on the chest thing with your main level 3 sword combo.

For the skull lava thing, switch your magic to the lighting one. Start of the fight by shooting any explosive or armor piercing arrows at it and when it is far away in the lava. Once it starts throwing skulls at you, switch to Viggorian Flails and do a basic combo to take the skulls out like you did the fish. When you hit a skull, it damages the boss too. Once the skulls are just too much, use your lightning magic and it will take out all of them, but watch out cause he will try and grab you with his mouth which does a lot of damage. After he shoots the skulls at you he'll either jump onto the land or jump in the lava nearby. If he jumps in the lava, throw all your incendiary shurikens at him. He'll eventually jump onto the land, then just do a whole bunch of sword combos at his feet. It took me a while to get it but after enough practice doing this, I was able to get through the statue guy and the skull guy with only using one health potion and one magic potion.

yeah, my problem is that right now I only have 1 full heal potion, but plenty of demon elixirs (full and single). i spent a ton of money and got the unlabored flawlessness so i was using that on the statue boss along with just pumping fireballs into it.

i'll have to try the flails and lightning on the skull boss though. i only got one attempt on him.

Just make sure that you only use your fireball spell on the statue if one of the lasers is about to hit you (due to the temporary invincibilty). If you land a square hit with it, it will take a good chunk out of his life.
