Who uses Flickr??
I've seen a lot of fantastic images in the Digital SLR thread...
http://brentroad.com/message_topic.aspx?topic=391741
...and I think think this would be a nice place to share more of our work (that doesn't necessarily make it to the aforementioned thread).
I know some of you use other sources, so feel free to add your links for those as well --I only mention Flickr because its what I'm most familiar with-- 1/11/2008 3:59:04 PM |

its quite a bit of looking through, mixed in with pictures, questions, and so on. I figured this thread could be limited to just those links. Leave the pics, questions, comments, etc for the other thread. 1/11/2008 4:01:10 PM |

Eh...if it floats your boat. I vote to keep them in that thread because it's long-lived and will be around for a while. 1/11/2008 4:02:42 PM |

CTRL F isn't hard to use.
Set it to .com, and go about your nerdy, lazy way.
Or make a new thread.1/11/2008 4:11:36 PM |

picasa is better since you can have unlimited albums for free, but you can only have 3 albums on flickr with a free account. and the picasa interface is MUCH better and you can edit pictures, and many other things right on thew picasa interface. 1/11/2008 4:11:57 PM |

I think a separate from the DSLR tww flickr thread would be fine
My photos aren't decent enough for that thread, but I'd share em on here if there was a separate thread for it.
and flickr is totally worth the $25 a year compared to picasa. I love that flickr has tags and photo notes which makes searching for anything a breeze. ] 1/11/2008 4:12:09 PM |

But since picasa doesn't have the userbase or explore function that flickr does, it sucks harder 1/11/2008 4:13:15 PM |

do you HAVE to download the picasa program to use it? i think that's why i prefer flickr...but i'd like to have more albums for free 1/11/2008 4:14:28 PM |

Crybaby huh? Well someone likes to jump to conclusions, don't they? Apparently you are having a little trouble understanding the idea here. My thought was for people to post links in this thread, reserving the other thread for anything else they felt like posting. That would allow those interested to just click and go, as opposed to having to scroll through 51 pages. Obviously its not perfect, since there are links already posted in the other thread. The idea was to consolidate. You don't have to agree. Ambrosia didn't, and it didn't hurt my feelings. 1/11/2008 4:14:43 PM |

haha welcome? dude I've been around since 2000...
At any rate, I'm mostly familiar with Flickr. I like the forums and the ability to search by camera, lens, or keyword. Its definitely helpful to have the EXIF data available too, if the poster allows it. 1/11/2008 4:17:39 PM |

I prefer to just do color correction and red eye in the picasa desktop app, and not online, and use the flickr uploadr. For 'effects', picasa still falls short of other things like photoshop and lightroom.
flickr's user pages are much cleaner, too. Picasa also doesn't let you see view counts on your pictures.1/11/2008 4:18:10 PM |

http://labnol.blogspot.com/2006/06/flickr-vs-picasa-web-albums-no-tags.html
Quote : | " Where Google Picasa Web Album Wins: Picasa provides an extremely easy program to upload photos online. You can visually select files and folders in Picasa, save them to the tray and upload all of them in one go. Picasa Slideshows are much easy to customize as they are done in HTML code.
Where Flickr Wins Flicks is a more mature and robust application than Picasa Web Albums. Flickr supports tags and photo clusters which make the task of finding relevant photos so easy. Unlike Picasa, Flickr provides communities and photo pools where anyone can join and share related pictures. Flickr has an active support community and your Flickr related queries are answered almost instantly. Also, Flickr has an API for programmers.
Conclusion : Take the Flickr route. I would probably use Picasa Web Albums for storing picture backups but Flickr remains my favorite service until Google introduces tags, communities and more photo uploading options." | ]1/11/2008 4:34:19 PM |

yeah, cause picasa doesn't have a google user group, and google isn't the best search engine in the world. flickr is just a little prettier, but i would prefer and recommend picasa all day long over flickr.
so all picasa needs is tags, hahaha
