The Terminator Timeline explained

Future A - Humans are losing the war badly, humanity is being overrun by the machines. In a last ditch effort to save humanity, humans send Kyle Reese back in time to try to destroy Skynet before it begins. He gives up and decides to live his life like normal, impregnates Sarah Connor, John Connor is born. This leads to future B

Future B- This is the future presented in the first Terminator movie. Machines are losing the war, send Terminator to kill Sarah Connor. John Connor recognizes Kyle Reese as his father, sends him back to stop the Terminator. Machines recognize that it didn't work and send a more advanced terminator to try to destroy John Connor as a youth. Future Connor sends a reprogrammed terminator to combat it. In the past they manage to destroy the advanced technology that helped Skynet come to existence. This creates Future C

Future C - Skynet comes online later than in Future A and Future B, but is still stopped by John Connor. Machines send back the hot female terminator to attempt to kill John Connor and his lieutenants. Humans send a more advanced terminator to try to stop it.

It was ok. They really don't need the cheesy lines in this show ("class dismissed," "hope," gas station shit).

jesus christ, maybe if they made a goodnight moon tv series you guys could follow

just to be clear....you're good with robots coming back from the future and blowing shit up, but not good with them coming back and building a time machine

That's fair, but I'm going to guess that they only used it to set the story in the present. I hope they don't pull some shit like that every episode.

Also, it's not completely unreasonable. If I had the power to time travel, I would certainly try to set something up.

Evil Terminators on this show are like Darth Maul, in theory they should be more bad ass. More weapons, quicker, can act more human etc. However like Darth Maul, they just don't ooze the badassness that originals did.

Arnold and Robert Patrick were awesome at their roles. This guy, meh.

So, it looks like Cameron is to some extent of the original T-100 variety (ie, shes not liquid metal). Seems a poor choice...youve got to keep the hot chic hot, which means she cant get beat all to hell like the other guy, for example. On the other hand, it looked like she was healed up after they time traveled, so who knows. I cant imagine the budget would keep them from doing a liquid metal Terminator, though, when you see what a show like BSG does on a CABLE budget.

*shrug* I think she's supposed to be something new and different.. they hinted at that.. I'm sure they'll make some lame attempt to explain it in a later episode.

I think the opener was better than I thought it would be, but I'm still skeptical about the rest of the series. I'll watch tomorrow to see if it gets any better.
