Watched his sworn-in today as the governor of LA, the first Indian-American governor in America and the first non-white governor of LA since the civil war.

The guy is a good speaker, young (35), and very intelligent(Brown + OXford), and even more surprising is that he is elected governor in Lousianna of all places. He also won the rural conservative northern LA votes which is very impressive given his racial background.

So will Bobby Jindal move on and run for president in the near future?

it's not really surprising that he won the general, i mean look at the record of the previous administration that he was running against (Katrina, et al.)

it is surprising to a degree that he won the primary, because Louisiana has an open primary and he had to win a plurality, if i remember correctly.

however, its not really reasonable to call him the "Republican Obama" because indian americans do not have the same context of existence in the US as african americans do.

he's an incredibly insightful public servant and knows how to play the game.

will he run for president someday? well, he's got as good a shot as any of the other governors out there, certainly better poised for it than if he had stayed in Congress in any capacity. but i think its a stretch to brand him in such a way.

I think his career is worth watching, but it's too early to say whether or not he's exactly presidential material. Let's see how his first term as governor of the broken and dysfunctional state of Louisiana.

^ that was the first thought I had as well.

the second one is that is Louisiana in such financial disarray that they have to outsource their governor?

lol "outsourcing"

he ran unsuccessfully against the previous governor last election.

considering how everyone perceived the previous governor for fucking up the recovery in the wake of Katrina, the republicans could have fielded either Alan Keyes or David Duke and still won.

but good for him, anyhow. I'm sure he'll do well. it's not like he could do much worse.

LOVE this dude. I was talking to a political consultant from Louisiana and he was telling me that Jindal is very popular BUT he has never held a job for more than 2 years and that's his one resume strike. Everything he's done, he's put down to something else... if he gets the VP nod, that will be one more thing.

I hope he doesn't go for the VP slot although it would be a great ticket... I just believe that this guy would be a great President... and it's pretty difficult to get elected President after being Vice President.

obama couldn't give 2 shits about his muslim heritage from which he derives his very name. instead he'll just keep parading around saying he's an "african american" to grab a few votes.

romney has really bad poll numbers with mccain...jindal is too young...i think he goes for crist or that guy out of minnasota

I dont think Jindal is interested in being VP,

I would suspect he is plotting his own run sometime in the future. He has a pretty clean and effective political record and also a good public speaker like Obama.

that my very well be true (impossible to know really), but running a company is not the same as running an economy as president (in as much as a president could or should "run" an economy). in fact, i would wager they are VASTLY different skill sets.

^of course. i never said his private business skills where equal to presidential skills.

i just think the fact that he built up one of the most profitable companies of our time from the ground up speaks volumes.

something frankly McCain nor Obama nor Hillary has on their resume to impress us.

of course, the fact that he is mormon will ultimately be his doom b/c christians in this country are sheep and can't look past it. (they'll pull the polygamy card or whatever, but isn't he one of the only nominees on both sides to have only 1 wife in his life?? lol)

I casually read that he voted against stem cell research and voted for intelligent design being taught in science class, which really aren't very appealing qualities to most people (at least not the stem cell thing).

Jindal is "too conservative for TV," and anyone who supports teaching creationism (or whatever they call it now) is hardly "intelligent."

Since when does pandering shamelessly to undereducated provincial thinkers make one a "great politician?" Unless your last name is Clinton, of course ...

If you are going to teach evolution it should go under a theoretical course just like a religion or 'creationism' course should.

Last time I checked nobody has yet to prove or disprove one or the other.

1) i never said evolution is false. but it's def not even close to 100% proven.

the real question is: who or what put life here to evolve, and for most intelligent humans: why

you see. this form of theology called evolution just like the rest of them will never explain where or how or even why life started. maybe now for the first time your life you're questioning why the vast majority of humans subscribe to a creationist theory.

and this is why Jindal will be popular amongst most intelligent human beings.
