And 'Justice' for none?

Quote :
"Holy work-stoppage, Batman! The ongoing WGA strike now has Warner Bros.' superhero bonanza Justice League of America in its crosshairs. A source tells Hollywood Insider that filmmakers would like another script rewrite and are now debating whether to begin shooting without one. The studio has a Jan. 15 deadline to either greenlight League for a spring production start -- meaning a summer '09 release -- or push it into the post-strike ether. (Warner Bros. had no comment.) All seven superheroes have been cast -- among them, Adam Brody, according to one report -- but it remains to be seen whether they'll get to fly this year."

This guy, Adam Brody, is apparently going to be The Flash:

Should have somebody older-looking, in my opinion... unless they're making Teen Justice League of America.

It seems that the trend concerning The Flash has been more and more to supplant the mature, intelligent Barry Allen character and replace him with the younger, wise-cracking Wally West character. We have seen this in the Justice League cartoon, now in the new live-action movie, and so on--and Smallville used a Bart Allen, I think.

Maybe some writers think Barry Allen as The Flash was boring. I don't know, but I don't like it either. I mean, this is not The Flash many of us have come to expect:

Common confirms 'Justice League' role
Friday, February 15 2008, 07:24 GMT

Quote :
"Rap star Common has confirmed that he will play the Green Lantern in the new Justice League of America movie.

He also revealed that he was confident the movie would begin shooting again 'relatively soon'.

The long-awaited film, which is based on the DC Comics creation from the 1960s, was shelved indefinitely due to screenplay and taxation issues last month.

Talking about his role, Common told MTV: 'It's a blessing really, to know that I could potentially be this superhero.

'Justice League itself is an honor, and Green Lantern is an incredible character to play. It's a blessing to be associated with it. Just being a black person, a black man, playing a superhero is an honour in itself.'

Adam Brody (The Flash), Armie Hammer Jr (Batman), Megan Gale (Wonder Woman) and Scott Porter (Superman) are all expected to star in the movie."

Armie Hammer Jr - Batman

Adam Brody - The Flash (see post above)

Common - Green Lantern

Scott Porter - Superman

Megan Gale - Wonder Woman

They're saying 2010 release date now.

If they're going to go with the John Stewart GL, I think Common is a good choice--he's got the look, he's young, he's edgy, and he's relevant.

I picked the photo of Gale that looked the most like Wonder Woman. In some of the others, not so much--I mean, she's definitely hot, though.

The others seem to fit their parts a lot better than casting for some past superhero movies has.

I'll have to say that I don't think Brody is a good choice. I've yet to see him play a serious character in anything (what am I missing?).

Common is excellent though.

I think Adam Brody will fit well because he's a younger dude. I always imagined Flash as being similar to the Human Torch in F4.

I think Brody is a good match also. Flash is not a "serious" superhero, more of a corny witty guy...so far that is all Brody has played...I like the idea.

Guess I forgot about Flash not being serious. Still hope Brody can put on some weight and can at least fill out a costume.

^ According to IMDb, "The project is tabled for now." So, maybe not.

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0974015/

FWIW, IMDb lists this guy, D.J. Cotrona, "rumored" as Superman/Clark Kent.

Santiago Cabrera as Aquaman/Arthur Curry.

And Hugh Keays-Byrne as J'onn J'onzz/Martian Manhunter.

Frankly, I was having some trouble seeing how they could pull this off anyway.

Id rather see Scott Porter as Superman than that other guy...although it may be weird seeing him go from being in a wheelchair to being able to fly .

Although I think this will put too many different versions of Superman out there in a short period of time. I still think they should use Tom Welling for that part.

I think they should use Smallville's cast of heroes that have been introduced to this point.

^ I like that idea. I am a Smallville enthusiast, but it is time for the show to end. They should use they character in the show and use them as the basis for Justice League.

I don't think it's time for the show to end, but it's time to start moving on to being "Superman"

hmmm i dunno. My heart will always been with DC, but Marvel seems to be doing a better job building up to an Avengers movie. I mean, each of the movies operates as if they are a part of the Marvel Universe. Tony Stark can pop-up in a Hulk story line in the movies just as easily as he can in the comics.

The DC movies have no interaction at all. Heck, they're having to re-cast every single character. That makes this less cool imp. But hopefully I will be wrong.

in Batman Forever, Bruce Wayne asks Robin...

Quote :
"Where are you gonna go? The circus is gonna be in metropolis by now"

that's pretty good character/universe interaction.
