[quote]Jeffrey Blitz's inspirational drama Rocket Science proves that many a handicap can be overcome, no matter how daunting the obstacle at hand may initially seem. Newcomer Reece Thompson plays Hal Hefner, a 15-year-old high-school student with a minor yet socially alienating (and painful) disability: he stutters uncontrollably. Determined to work through the problem, Hal opts for an extreme route -- he joins the school debating team, which sends him on a headfirst plunge into breakneck speech competitions -- and offers a much-needed boost toward correcting the problem. Blitz, like his onscreen alter ego, struggled with a stammer as a young man -- a disability he eventually surmounted -- which imparted him with a lifelong interest in speech and storytelling."

I like anything about the awkwardness of adolescence. Hopefully I'll see this tonight.

I think this movie either hit DVD semi-recently or will very soon. I'd never heard of it when it was making it's limited rounds, but it made it's way to my download queue tonight. I definitely enjoyed the film and will probably re-watch the last hour or so again with my roommate who tried, but finally gave in to the Lunesta. By no means a film critic but I guess a strong 7/10 is in order?

i give it a 6.8/10

the ending could have been better. they could have given back stories on how each character turned out.

overall good, but quite disappointed with the ending.
