Dusting is right...but it:s been snowing long enough to make me pleased, even if it's not a lot of accumulation.

Snow on the grass, not yellow grass. Sorry, it:s a shitty camera phone picture out my window.

It started here sometime between 1 and 2, I think... I'm off of Guilford College Rd, like 5 minutes away from Wendover (Sheetz, Wal-mart, etc).

are you north or south of 40?

im right around where holden ends into benjamin parkway and turns into cone at battleground.

3 miles due east of PTI, and 3 miles NNW of the middle of downtown (market/friendly) and elm

you could use those things and a map and draw some venn diagrams and narrow me down to street name!!!1

I'm uh on the side closer to High Point. In between Hilltop and Mackay on GC. The address is technically Jamestown, but it doesn't feel like it.

^^^yeah it's been snowing since 2 here and some has stuck, but not enough. the trees are pretty, but otherwise, it's not a LOT of coverage. oh well, it brings a nice ambiance to the day.

^^yeah the trees are very cool looking.

it actually looks right now EXACTLY what it looked like at about 5:30 the other morning before it started raining. about an inch of snow (like they said on the weather actually... 1-3" starting here with closer to 1)

i wonder if how much more will come tonight, looks like it might be ending soon here if nothing else pops up. but either way at least this stuff is gonna stay around through monday i think!

0.8" at PTI. You'll probably hear 1" because of how the coding on the METAR (hourly observation) works.

isnt it supposed to stay really cold until like 10 on monday morning, and get down under 20 tonight?

[Edited on January 19, 2008 at 7:13 PM. Reason : i havent watched the forecast since last night]

You're right, it will be really cold. The roads will be a problem for a while - thats for sure!

Lucky1, my Mama, and I just came back in about 30 mins ago from making a snowman in the front yard!! I can't wait to see it tomorrow in some light. It was still snowing then.

Anyways, the extreme cold will make every bit of snow into ice, which takes longer to thaw and go away. But the sun will be soaking up some of it too. Hopefully it won't take it all!

ps it said 48 in the car at like 5:05 (last time i noticed) -- so either the thermometer was off cause i had just recently started it, or the forecast was a little off

I live downtown and I didn't notice it until about 8:30. I hope it lasts a while.

Sounds like the college kids are out, too.

3" is not out of the question. I am going to take the measurement for the next hour's observation but from what the guy before me said it was 2"+ when he looked. Some of that may have settled/melted but it was certainly coming down. The drive from Burlington to PTI was scary. I almost didn't make it out of the neighborhood and that is with a 4 wheel drive truck. I passed a good number of cars off the road, crunched into barriers and into each other. The good thing is that I left at 10:20 to be here at midnight so doing 35mph worked well. This stuff had no trouble sticking to the highway despite being warmer earlier. My only point of contention were the asshats who thought they could drive on this and were doing 50+ and then I'd come across them in a ditch or on the median on up the road. Jackleg and you others that live here between GSO and Burlington BE CAREFUL!

oh i'd be really surprised if its not 3 inches. i went out and walked it earlier.. my "observations" were:

3-4 inches on the grassy areas, 2 on the streets, driveways, and lots, and 0 on the sidewalks

thanks for the heads up though, but i'm in for the night. and up way too late probably. haha
