My friend has lost her mind over a dude/coworker who does not want to see her anymore. I need to do an intervention before she looses all her self respect and her job. Any suggestions how I should proceed? I don't want to be too aggressive but she really needs to get a hold of herself and soon before this guy takes out a restraining order on her.

Did they date? If so, how long?

You should just sit her down and explain to her how irrational she is being. Keep talking to her regardless of how crazy she gets, and eventually - the crying will stop, and she'll say "You know, you're right. He's not worth this, and I am being a little crazy." I know I could do this with one of my friends, because I am her best friend, and she knows I don't want to hurt her - just want to keep her from causing trouble/getting hurt because I love and care about her. It depends on the closeness of your friendship, too, as to HOW you can talk to her.

oh...

women are illogical, emotional and irrational
and men are logical, stoic and rational

it all makes sense now!

Thanks, stereotypes!

Lost my mind just a couple of times.
You can spend your nickels, you can spend your dimes.
But I lost my mind just a couple of times.

yea, this so didn't work with my crazy friend. she just keeps getting crazier. she is extremely irrational and anytime you try to have an "intervention" she attacks your life and tries to bring you down to her level. so NOW when i find out things (cheating etc), i keep them to myself. and when she whines about when her boyfriend has done something wrong, i don't even sympathize. soooo not my problem anymore.

Thanks for all the advice. Here are some more facts. According to her they were together for almost a year. According to him they hung out and did "stuff" but they were not "together". During the same time period he was also called back up to active duty and has just recently come back.... Since he has been back shit has gotten a little crazy. I plan on trying to talk talk to her but based on some things she has already done, I don't know if I will be able to get through to her and I am a little afraid she will project all her anger onto me.

Gosh this thread makes me sad. Being rejected by someone that you still love is one of the worst feelings in the world.
When I was hysterically crying and writing f-him in my journals I was really so overwhelmed by my feelings that I was not really connecting with reality and how I was acting in public. The sad thing is you can really do nothing to help her get out of her psycho emotions bc she has to be the one that gets out of her funk. My situation was that this was the first time that I had ever loved someone and I was so immature emotionally that I really did not know how to act. My guess is that she is either young (less than early 20s) or maybe has not had many relationships
What really sucks is that she was feeling way more than he was and now she prob feels like the biggest loser/dumbass for feeling so.

Good luck with this one. There is really not much you can do but listen (and trust me that may be one of the biggest pains ever-immaturity tends to go on and on about trivial crap).

I would suggest not trying to be the mediator/messenger person bc that will only make your life hell!

Do to make sure she doesn't choose across the road to down the street.

Never know how far it could go.
