well, i've been waking up at dusk and usually falling asleep around dawn (or maybe 2-3 pm after class) for like a week now, and its getting old. sleeping pills won't knock me out 5 hrs after i wake up, and i dont want to stay up until tomorrow night. i beg you other nocturnal people to give me your ideas!

you need to get the non-nocturnal people to help you out there, not us

you don't want to stay up til tomorrow night, but it's probably the best idea if you want to return to a normal sleeping pattern

works for me sometimes

i've struggled with sleep patterns like this for years, and it has affected my ability to go to school and hold down a jerb. i had my sleep fixed for a while but now i'm all messed up again. this is lame.

Just gradually adjust your sleep patterns. Move your schedule an hour back every night. This takes some control, but it works.

or just pull an "all-dayer" n throw some exercise in there

also in regards to sleep drugs, my pharmacy experience has taught me that long term NOTHING is better than generic benadryl, which also happens to be the active ingredient in tylenol PM and all the other over the counter sleep aid. sams club has bottles of 400 for like $5bucks. 2 always does the trick for me and doesnt leave me feeling groggy the next day at all.

melatonin can help to sync your sleep cycle. Take it at night a little bit before you want to go to bed. It's pretty cheap and you won't feel sleepy all day. Start off with one pill, if you don't have any wacky dreams you can increase the dosage.

if a vampire bat was in the US, it would make sense for it to come to a sylvania, like pennsylvania.

i also got this way over the weekend. couldnt sleep thursday night till like 5am and got back up at 7. was planning to be back in bed by 9 but i got held up almost all day.

so the 3-5am bedtimes and the noon-2 wake ups got worse through the weekend

but i just laid my ass in bed last night with the lights (and tv for once) off at about 12 and dont remember being awake long after that.

i'd try that before i use medicine. it would suck to depend on benadryl mentally just to get some sleep.

do you get any kind of semi-regular exercise? if you don't, that would definitely help.

i walk for an hour daily. benadryl doesn't put me to sleep anymore, it just makes me flip out. melatonin, i may try again but i am resistant to it unless i am already tired. i think i'm going to try to drink myself to sleep early tonight and just have a shitty short week to get everything back right.
