dunno how it will work now... but in the future, instead of using a towel or something to soak it up, pour some fine-grain salt on it... then vacuum the salt up... it will absorb the liquid without having to put pressure on the fabric and pressing the stain into it somewhat.

treat stain without saturating carpet, BLOT dont rub with white paper towel, rinse with plain water

repeat till no more of the stain transfers to the paper towel
