My girlfriend bought me a gift the other day: a George Foreman G5, the one that has the adjustable temperature setting as well as various removable plates, like a waffle maker, griddle, etc.

The instruction manual only had a couple of recipes in there, with some being cookies and biscuits. Nothing that we were too terribly interested in.

What are some of your favorite things to cook on the GF? We purchased some chicken and steaks the other day and prepared them the same way we would normally grill them. I like lemon pepper, garlic salt, and a bit of brown sugar on my steaks, and after about 6 minutes of cooking it was perfect, juicy and delicious.

We also tried making a grilled cheese, but we didn't do something right. The lid flattened and burned the bread, while squirting the cheese all over the grill. What's the proper way of doing this?

Tonight we're going to try a blue cheese salmon recipe. It sounds pretty good:

Ingredients:
1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce for chicken
1/4 cup nonfat half & half
1/2 cup crumbled blue cheese, plus extra crumbled blue cheese
1 tablespoon flour
Olive oil
1 teaspoon freshly ground black pepper
4 salmon filets, 1/2-1 inch thick
1/4 cup chives, snipped into 1/4 inch pieces

Directions:
Mix the Worcestershire sauce, half + half, the 1/2 cup blue cheese, and flour in a saucepan over a medium/low heat. Stir until the cheese melts and begins to boil. Remove and keep warm.

Coat grill with cooking spray. Preheat for 5 minutes.

Brush filets with oil and sprinkle with pepper. Grill 4 - 5 minutes, until filets flake easily.

Serve topped with melted cheese sauce, chives and a little extra of the crumbled blue cheese.

I heard George Foreman say that he goes to Baskin-Robbins and knocks all the flavors out.

My favorite was always the sandwich steak at the Teeter. It's basically bacon sized strips of lean beef. Grill 3 of those at once and then put it on a dinner roll and you're in business.

Lawry's seasoning salt makes it awesome.

oh yeah, grilled squid is good for a foreman, (assuming they're small)

cause it won't fall into the fire like on a regular grill

sidenote:

I met George Foreman at a Bobcats game (triple OT vs. Lakers) last season during the weekend of the Meineke Car Care Bowl in Charlotte (since he's a spokesman). He is literally one of the nicest people you could ever meet.
